New to Alden, hope you fellows can help me out on a sizing question. I have got plenty of shell from Carmina already so i know what i´m exposing myself to also considering a venture into Alden
biggrin.gif

Should be noted naturally that i´m in a location making me unable to try out sizes and lasts in a brick and mortar location

I currently use the following

Allen Edmonds
10E on AE 65 with a nice but not to snug fit
10D on AE 511 with a generous fit allowing for some thick socks
Used to squeeze into AE 108 last 10D but they were to snug to be comfortable for a full day, liked the aesthetics of the last enough though to stick with this for a while

Carmina (in the lasts standard width that varies between E and EE)
UK 9 Oskar best boot fit. Semi snug with some room for medium weight socks
UK 9 Forrest best derby fit. Snug fit all over
UK9 Rain a bit to wide in the forefoot for me, also my instep is a bit on the lower side.
UK9 Soller rather generously allowing some medium weight socks but not loose enough to size down
UK9 Detroit fits very generously allowing thick socks, only Carmina last where i would consider going down half a size

Where would that put me looking into going Alden with eyes currently on the sleeker last such as Aberdeen and Plaza? Any input appreciated

I don't have any experience with Carmina but I take the same size in plaza/aberdeen as AE5. Im sure others can provide some extra advice. Give theshoemart a try if you want to try on shoes but are worried about returns. Good luck!

Those shoes collections from @Mdubs and @MrDv are incredible.
I would like to find a pair of ravello shell cordovan (long-wing blutcher) but after visiting almost all the shoes shops in Tokyo, l couldn't find any. Only #8 and black colors are available here (even for brands other than alden). And the Lakota store employees told me that if I ordered, I might get shoes after two or three years, but they can't even guarantee this delay.
Do you have any tips?
Thank you.

Do you know your size in the Barrie last?

Aberdeen and Plaza fit pretty TTS. If you are a 10E in AE65 last, I'd try a 10E in these two Alden lasts as well as in my experience AE 65 fits TTS. Hope that helps. Others can maybe offer advice with more experience. Good luck!

Any tips as to who has a Plaza Lasted High Boot in stock in a 9D? Not black? Need commando sole. Aside from that I'm pretty open. Yenni only has black calf NST, and J Gilbert Tan Calf NST but not on commando. Shoemart has a few but all on a leather sole.

Any help would be great, thanks.

I'm glad to see the thread split and like that it's going to be a new thread each year.

I started off 2016 by doing a little bit of maintenance on my tankers and PTBs last night while I watch football.

All that work and then I ended up wearing suede to the office this morning.

following @mdubs lead.

Day 1. ravello.
first because it is my favorite shell color.

boots: cap toe x dc, short wing x tsm, nst x tsm, plain toe x anatomica, plaza x frans boone.
shoes: red lwb x dc, nst x tsm, lwb x aoc, tassels x leffot, sw x ls, ptb x leffot.

Damn DV...thats an awesome collection of Ravello! Only thing missing is a LHS, and I would take any of yours ahead of LHS.
I too love Ravello so much I have the Leffot Daytripper and DC Captoe on Commando. Daytrippers are slightly more comfortable with the single oiled sole.
