Check these out. The black unicorn leather has a very nice suede side. They're made by cf stead, one of the best suede leathers. I would really love a simple makeup using this leather on the roughout side.

Service boots or derby
2030 or 1035
Black unicorn roughout
Tongue: smooth black gusseted
Plain toe
7 eyelets
Natural midsole
Leather sole with dovetail heel

Hold the phone...wait, what are these?? I'm not really a 310 guy, but I LOVE these! 5 eyelets, lowered heel, half sole...even that leather (whatever it is)...wow! Best 310 boot I've seen! You 310 guys should talk about this...just sayin!

We aren't allowed to change the pattern...

Well, it is a standard pattern, though an older one -- their old 1940 Service Boot, which has the 5 eyelets; and I remember either Guy or Jason Viberg telling me they could lower the heel 1/8th" on the 310 no problem. But it would be fine too with more eyelets, though less distinctive.

These are perhaps my favorite Viberg boots ever. When I first saw the pic, I was transported back to my childhood in the 1970s in the mill towns outside Pittsburgh, where every grown man I knew either worked in the Steel Mills or the Conrail yard, and all wore these sort of workboots -- hence the name "Millwright Boot." To me, this is THE classic Viberg look. The leather is the old "Icy Mocha" which as Fok has said varied widely in color and was discontinued. This was one of the darker variants, but seems like that new Bark brown would serve well. Just sayin'..

SO classic! Now that's a 310 boot I would totally consider! Can't go there with the regular versions, but that one is killer. Sounds like it's a dead end though.

It's 1940 service boot. I dig this makeup as well.
I found 1940 pattern for 310 last is more remarkable and really bring some unique makeup for SF GMTO.

I'd be in for something like that 310 if it was in a hardwearing leather and plaintoe. I think the captoes on the 310 look a little stubby and offbalance.

I'd prefer no pull tab and blind eyelets for this makeup, and probably would vote for the 2030 last although 1035 would not be a deal-breaker.

Here are the pics of the sample as posted in the other thread. @LA Guy - is the beige cafe lighter than this olive Guidi?
Ok & let's keep it simple, not to complicate matter.

Hence, the "Sample Inspired" Derby is very likely going to be the Beige Cafe in 2030 last with Dainite sole, hidden Eyelets with no pull tab.

An engineer boot done right. The Hopper “Easy Rider”pays homage to the cool classic motorcycle boot of the outlaw biker. It simply does not get better than this in the world of engineer boots. The 8 inch shaft length hits just right so it looks great always. A larger side gusset and larger than normal straps Viberg uses give it more of a substantial look and a bit of extra style. The brown hues of the tobacco chamois will age beautifully like denim and just keep getting better over time. This is a must own boot.

This tobacco chamois engineer boot with the unstructured toe will mold to your foot. Each day you’ll be torn between wanting to wear this boot and hanging them on the wall so you can just stare at them all day.

I emailed Fok asking if the tobacco chamois Alden uses is the same as his the sample swatch he has. Here's what he said, "It's possible, but the range of Horween leathers is huge. The leather is lighter in real life." I believe the swatch Fok has looks better than the Alden tobacco chamois uses.

Those boots really are the kind that you'd want to have out on display when you aren't wearing them! Just a badass boot! Viberg makes the best Engineer out there! And that leather is just perfect for them!
