Trousers look awesome VG! Quite impressive. Looks like you've found a great alternative.

FYI, I sent my jacket back to Chan as it suffered from the same puckering on the shoulder seem as yours did. When I received it, it looked like the problem was still there, but I gave it a good steam iron, and it was indeed fixed. So I trust Chan will do you right.

+1 on the trousers, very nice and definitely tailored for braces!

I'm curious, did you request the jacket be squared off at the bottom? It stood out to me as being a little different, so I checked all mine to see if i just hadn't noticed it before. All mine are rounded at the edge, rather than forming corners. Tailor's "house style?"

I just saw this thread. Looks like a really nice shop; nice to know you can still find places like that in the U.S. As far as I can tell, the suit is coming along great. I noticed, in particular, that the back of the pants fit really nicely. Are the quarters going to be squared off like that, or are they yet to be rounded off?

Although it was never explicitly stated, I have to assume they're "yet to be rounded." Every jacket in the place and the few other Lopez jackets I've seen on folks around town have the rounded corners at the quarters.

I'm glad to hear your jacket ultimately turned out OK. I was fortunate that my problem was resolved after I sent it back, and I have to admit that Chan admirably stood behind their work. Here's a picture of the suit, complete with fixed jacket:

On both my sports coats from Nick, the front corners are rounded. I don't remember what they looked like at the fitting, but I didn't explicitly ask for any shape.

I went up to Houston today for the final fitting. Immediately upon trying on the trousers, I knew we had problems. The trousers were easily two inches too short (and I prefer only a slight break). And the jacket was still too boxy. Fortunately, because all the tailoring is done on premises, Nick was able to address all the problems, and I took delivery about an hour later.

The jacket being pinned.

Pants being measured.

Pants are finished. Waiting for the jacket.

Big ol' cuffs.

Jacket's back. Looking good.

The finished product.

I regret getting rid of a POW check I had in a similar colour.

I like this. The pants are really beautiful. Im not sure, but would the coat look better a little shorter or benefit from opening the quarters. Just so you can see those lovely trousers.

Thanks for the good words, gents. As for the quarters, the tailor's default is for a more closed look, and I thought it worthwhile, at least on a first commission, to defer to his judgment. But it should also be said that my last two suits (both from Chan) have an extremely open look, and I thought it not a bad idea to have something that's at least a bit more closed.

The suit turned out great, one of the best I've seen posted here on the forum! wow! the fit looks superb, well proportioned shoulders, like the placement of the lapel notches, etc.

I noticed you wear your tieclip at an angle, the mark of a true stylish gent in my book-- so I'll ask you to wear your new suit sometime with a white shirt, black knit grenedine tie, and tv fold white pocket square some time and snap a photo for the 'what are you wearing now' thread

Very nice VG. It does look a good deal more staid than your Chan commissions but very nice. You're pushing me toward forgoing my next Chan order and giving my local tailor a try.

VG, you serve as a great example of what can happen when you marry wise choices and the right direction with a capable tailor.
