I was considering some of the points mentioned in my tux thread. Too, in  looking back in retrospective over some of the comments in other posts  since A harris first made me aware of the Style Forum those months back has made me to seriously consider the quest of upgrading   my wardrobe.

( Yes I know- you could all smell the wood burtning the whole time I was thinking <warm smile> )

For a number of various reasons I have gravitated toward Oxxford.

Can anyone suggest a website or book that details the various offerings of Oxxford  through the years please?

Or perhaps some of you most learned gentleman ( cough* Carlo or A.Harris et. al.* cough ) who  seem to have a good number of various models of  oxxford offerings in your Ebay sales can educate me  on the  differnt lines of the suitmaker.

By going on the model alone is it possible to put an approximate age to the suit, please? I realize many makers offer several lines at one time and these can exist for years.

Or is there something else that helps identify the age of the suit? Pehaps certain numbers?

I LOVE a vintage suit in excellent condition. They look great worn for  the PROPER occasion.  But it IS nice to have an idea just how "vintage" the suit you're bidding on may or may not be.

it IS nice to have an idea if the suit your bidding on IS a more modern vintage. This is especially true  for clubbing with friends etc. ( NO sirs, trendy is NOT a consideration. )

It is also nice to know  if one is in a bidding war for a 30 year old suit of a pattern that looks outdated.

I DO beleive a well tailored and well taken care of quaility suit that is 15 years old  DOES look better on a person than an off the rack untailored 99.00 rayon/cotton/polyvinylchloride/wool linen  "Italian exclusive"

Some of Oxxfords offerings that come to mind:

Mansion

Gotham

Owensia

Manhattan ( I and II <?>)

Is there a lineage to these models please? i.E.  I know the Manhattan and ( I believe it is) the Manhattan II are more  recent offerings.  Is the Gotham the predeccesor to the Manhattan. The Owentsia BEFORE the Gotham etc?

I would  greatly appretaite an explanation of or even suggestions of some publications or websites to put me searching in the proper direction. < post searches arent really giving me the info I was looking for >

Thanks you in advance for your consideration.

Respectfully,
 John G.

Edited out some extranious items in hopes of a few replies <smiles>

2nd edit> my apology. I did not realize editing would bump it up to the front like this. That was not my intention.
