I don't really like this kid. He's kind of a dick.

Now back to your scheduled programming.

That's not a bad price actually. Of course, I refuse to support A&F and what they stand for / the consumer base still.

My brain is dead ATM, so no suggestions here. Scour styleforum and sufu market sections for deals and some leads. Then, eBay is your friend.

I like that jacket as well, but I would not buy it from A&F, and would instead get a real military spec snorkel jacket from a company like Schott or Spiewak.

If that was Engineered Garments would you guys like it better?
For the record, I'd actually like to see Daiki's take on a snorkel jacket. I thought I was always going to be anti-goose down/fur anything, but when I tried on his down vest from this season it completely change my opinion on them.

EG has had many different parka's, but nothing like the standard N2B/N3B design. Daiki's are rooted more in hunting outwear, and not military. Edit: Also, you suck at poetry

I wish someone would photoshop and EG or APC logo on one of these jackets and behold the hypocrisy.

xmx, welcome to the forum. Many people here disapprove of A&F more for what they stand for than necessarily the clothes they make. That said, their price/quality ratio is abysmal. The piece you showed certainly isn't my style, but it's not something I wouldn't be caught dead in either. I think the main thing that bugs me is the faux fur that is pretty conspicuously displayed. Some very popular brands on here are APC and Engineered Garments, but for the most part, are out of my range. If you're looking for something similar, check out spiewak or even shades of greige. Now, greige's quality is still up in the air, but I am confident it is better than A&F for the price. Check out the forum affiliates such as tobi.com, contextclothing.com, etc. Not only do they carry nice pieces, but you can get discounts for being a SF member too. It looks like they're sold out, but you might be able to find this piece elsewhere.

thanks djs488. I'll look into your suggestions

The jacket in the picture, however, is a little bit to fancy. Not that i dont like it. but i dont think it would go very well with my current clothes. Its also a little to thin. I do like your input though. Keep it coming guys. I like the suggestions, i'm trying to develop an "eye" for good stuff

I garuntee that if it was EG people would be says how its some serious "next level" **** that they cant believe and how amazing it is.

dont get me wrong. I love styleforum but I cant stand that fact that everyone conforms to how everyone else dresses.

If you like that jacket buy it and enjoy it and **** what everyone else thinks. You'll be the one wearing it not them.

I don't care what brand is on there, I'd never wear a jacket that looked like I tore it off the skin of a bear.

alright guys, we get it, some of you don't give a **** whether or not it's EG. That's probably a sentiment almost all the rest of style forum feels too. Is it possible some people were criticizing the jacket because they actually didn't like the style, or thought the price was too high for the quality? People are entitled to their opinion.

I'd check it out in person. As someone who has been to those stores a fair amount in the past year with my sister, the stuff looks cheaper (quality) for the price in person. I don't know if you'd like it as much if you felt/tried it on yourself. Also, chances are there are similar items out there near that price point with better quality/details. As a florida resident i've never really searched for parkas so unfortunately i can't help with a specific brand. Don't give up though. Search the forum affiliates and www.revolveclothing.com and you should find something. Like i said, try to go see/try the AF parka in person. If it looks, feels and fits great, you might want to consider it since i don't see ugly AF branding. I don't like that jacket djs posted though. Don't really like the styling and it looks too thin for what the OP is after. I also don't understand all the posters complaining about how if it was EG people would wet themselves. I don't frequent the EG thread that often but it just seems like there is a lot of backlash against popular brands amongst forum members these days (w&h, eg, apc, etc...). People make too many negative assumptions about user clothing judgement.

To be honest, I don't care for it either, I was just trying to find an alternative. Evidently SoG quality might not be as superlative as I was lead to believe (see above).

Agreed. This seems to be a recent phenomenon.
