I @SpooPoker would also be getting a silent partner. Lets move that Luxeswap store into the Heart of Manhattan! AND in Chicago, and Los Angeles, Houston, etc.
Wow. I really appreciate that support! --- Re: Lotto - You'd never know I won, but you'd find me thrifting at Sothebys and shipping you trades from 1116 Ocean Drive.

And these. :D

EG Dovers, 10E UK on the 32 last. Looked close to dead when I found them, but came back in a big way!

Not shown from earlier in week: Brown suede C&J wingtips, Yohji Yamamoto x2, Brioni tweed suit... etc, etc. Happy hunting.

LET THIS BE A LESSON TO YOU!

In other news related to thrift and e-thrift, if you have the chance to get a Roomba.  Do it.   Holy crap.  My wife wanted one for Christmas and I found a used one on ebay.  It is the Roomba Red.    That thing is incredible.  It really works.  Seriously.  I have always been suspicious that it wouldn't work very well as mostly just a techy fad gadget.   But, it not only works, it is actually sort of fun.  It is amazing how well it vacuums and how well it can get around.  The first time it got under the dinning room table, I thought it would never make it out with all the chairs.  But, it just kept working and turning and pretty soon, it was all clean and it moved between two chairs and went onto the next room.   It runs out of battery (3 hours or so) before it has cleaned every room thoroughly on the main floor.  But, after 2 days, it had done everywhere and it really works.

My point being, if you thought they were goofy and didn't work just like I did, you might be surprised.

Roombas are awesome. We have a ¬5-year old 700 series and I can vacuum our house with the built-in vacuum and then send out the Roomba on its mission and it will still come back full with everything that was missed -- amazing little devices. I always see these cheap at thrift stores because they break or the battery dies and people think they're impossible to repair; in reality, there are tons of tutorials and cheap replacement parts available online for every model to be put back into service.

i give myself 3 weeks after winning the lotto before i become one of those disgusting dissolute people utterly corrupted by money

just a hopeless, gouty drunk with increasingly voracious, bizarre and taboo sexual appetites. my servants would be terrified of me and my friends and relatives would cease to recognize me. but none of it would matter because i'd have bought them all body and soul

i'd keep thrifting tho!

This is amazing, and you are now, officially, my new favorite poster. :nodding:

Edit: bahlsdheep has both my new favorite username and avatar. Well played sir. ;)

I had a thrift tease today. Stopped in a thrift during lunch and saw this.
400

And it's a bar.
400

Unfortunately on closer inspection and with some research you can get something similar on Amazon for $150 new. They were asking $70 firm.
Not the globe I am looking for (wood but not great and not hand painted) but still, a fun piece to see and for a minute it got my heart beating like finding a Kiton.

FYI in case you do win I heard the Playboy Mansion is going up for sale soon. The only caveat is Hef is supposed to have a special clause that will allow him to continue living there and is allowed to roam the halls in nothing, but his jacket and slippers...

Lets see if this works....not too skilled on making youtube videos. Sorry about my heavy breathing, I had an asthma thing earlier and I should have waited a little longer once I hit my inhaler.
Real nice Wes.

I was like "10 and a half minutes? Ain't nobody got time for thet!" but I ended up watching the whole thing. Nice set-up - esp liked that dresser and bar area! If I did a similar video it would be "so here's a pile of stuff, and here's a rack over-crammed with junk, and some plastic tables" etc - yours is very nicely kept and furnished / decorated. Still jelly of those Bose speakers you nabbed.

I like the idea of a stained glass window in that spot - something FL Wright / Charles Rennie Mackintosh / MCM / deco / art nouveau / prairie to keep with the aesthetic. Barring that, a cool Alphonse Mucha poster print or similar (the name may not be familiar to some, but I guarantee you've seen his work). Then maybe some fabric hangings of some sort on either side to cut down the echo and make it sound "warmer"...and maybe a rug in the main room as well - not too big as to hide the floors, but again, give it some warmth. It also warms up the sound when listening to music. But that's just me.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks.

I forgot to show that the dresser is completely filled with bowties, sunglasses, scarves, wallets etc. Basically everything has a function in my normal operation.
Do want to have a rug under the chairs, but I have not found the right one yet. It needs to leave a nice path for rack and cart travel. The main room can often be seen with at least 4 -5 racks in action during any given day.
The other two bose speakers are in the main house living room. They still need to be re-gasketted, which is coming up very soon on my DIY list. So much to do, so little time to live.

You'd never know I won, but you'd find me thrifting at Sothebys and shipping you trades from 1116 Ocean Drive.

Met a chick that works there when I was at my friends wedding. Was so close to sealing the deal when the booze from the party hit me in a big way when we were hanging out at an after party at an apartment with some other people. She wasn't happy to have to go back to her hotel room. I passed out on the couch.

Cockblocking yourself is priceless. My friends laughing their ass off at me the next morning at brunch was really hilarious though.

Damn she was hot.

What were we talking about.

Oh yeah, sothenbys is cool. You could say I have some unfinished business there.
