I highly doubt it and if that is true I highly doubt its ever implemented. I'm sure there is just as much there as anywhere else. You can get arrested for purchasing it knowing its counterfiet and obviously for selling fakes, but for being in possession I don't think so. They would have to prove that you knew it was a fake which isn't possible. You can just claim you bought it off a 3rd party who claimed it was real and they would have no recourse. It would be an impossible law to actually enforce so that's probably a myth.

It is good to know they wanted 400 for a zipper, cuz the end compartment on my LV weekender needs a new zipper head, but there's no way I'm dropping 4 bills on that.

If you're the original buyer with a receipt then I don't know why it'd be an issue, no?

The one thing that is possible is getting your stuff seized + being finned if you're caught bringing in counterfeit products from abroad at the airport.
But the searches are quite random (or rather they are not. they target very specific profiles that are high risk).

Fake LV (as well as Gucci, Prada etc...) is quite a common sight in Paris

Sometimes someone does something that is so selfless and so kind, it makes me certain that the world is a better place because of them.

@drlivingston sent me a shirt that I recieved today. He sent it to me just because he found it and knew it was hard to find shirts in my size and he thought I would like it.

It is difficult to fathom how selfless and kind this was. It wouldn't matter what kind of shirt it was because just taking the time to do this and to spend the money for shipping and the time to pack it so neatly is amazing.

BUT, to make his kindness more amazing, this wasn't just any shirt. It is a Zegna Napoli Couture XXX shirt.

If I found this shirt, my first thought would be to post it and brag about finding it.

I am genuinely humbled that his thought was to send it to me.

So, @drlivingston I am so thankful that I know you and that you thought of me. Your kindness will not go unnoticed even though I know you had no expectation of any return.

I am hoping that The Thriftening finds you when you least expect it and Thrift Karma follows you!

Thank you so much, Robert. I mean it.

Hi everyone, I'm a long time lurker. I don't post very often. I am in a very small town so I generally don't find as much as all of you, but once in a while something cool turns up. I've come across some cool stuff the last few days I thought I'd share. I am not the style/clothing savant that many of you are but I am always willing to learn something. Anyway, here are some quick pictures (sorry for the quality).

Came across these today in my size. They feel/look very nice and have a button-fly. I'm thinking they are authentic but could not find anything online to compare them to. I was pretty pumped.

Came across this yesterday. It is waxed cotton with leather trimming. Couldn't find a lot about this company either. Looks like they're still in business but not making this sort of garment anymore. There are a few listings on the bay. Doesn't seem to be extremely valuable but the quality is there and I plan to wear it anyway. There is some embroidery on the sleeve from a local yogurt plant that I will attempt to remove.

This will also be worn by me. It's in great shape and is filled with goose down so it should be plenty warm.

Finally, I came across this made in USA L.L. Bean blanket coat thing. It fits me pretty well which is odd because it is Women's. I came across one online that looked exactly the same but had the button holes on the other side making it a men's version. This will go to my girlfriend if she wants it or I'll try and flip it.

Thanks for looking, and thanks everyone for sharing your finds. I really enjoy hunting for bargains of all kinds and clothes have been exciting for me. It's the thrill of the hunt for sure. It's amazing what you all dig up. Keep the good stuff coming!

@Nobleprofessor, @drlivingston is the best! This summer he made a post about having allen edmonds shoe horns and I asked to buy a couple. He then says my money is not welcome and sends me 2 plastic ones and a brass one all the way to CANADA for free in a perfectly packaged box. Truly a stand up guy.

^^^ if it's a patch that's stitched onto the sleeve i think it has a better chance of being removed than actual embroidery.

if it's embroidered directly on the fabric, you might have a repair on your hands (or you could always apply a different patch that you like better than frogi yogi or whatever)

Nothing today during my regular jolly jaunt around the shops on my lunch break. Clearly the thrifting gods are saving something up for me for the end of the week right...RIGHT?! :)

I've had minor repairs such as zippers done by a seamstress for a small coin pouch and a cobbler for larger things. Way cheaper, looks great and LV can suck it (I did get a free lock and keys one time tho)

Pretty much like that tbh. I'd wear them with black jeans.

Does anyone know of a bespoke tailer by the name J. Butch, or possibly Ji Butch? I found a couple things in very small sizes that are exquisitely made and gorgeous tweeds, but I can't find anything online related to the labels inside. They are probably about a 36. If anyone is interested, I'm happy to pick them up, but this store charges 19.99-24.99 for SCs.
