I think it's more about what's on my radar versus what's on yours. I've thrifted in at least half of the states in the US, including Illinois. Keep expanding your horizons.

Yeah, every time I walk into one of these places I wish I knew more about golf clubs, bowling balls, and vintage skis. I saw the cleats today and knew I was looking at money... with other stuff, I'm a fish out of water. :embar:

Dudes, this is the Spiewak you are looking for. Vintage made in the USA Golden Fleece N3B with coyote lined snorkel hood. ******* sick. N/A

I've been a fan of the Poirot series for years now but have never actually read any of the stories, so this was a sweet find. All 50 mysteries in one book.

You guys ever thrift sporting equipment? First time for me today. Grabbed some Adidas Copa Mundials. I remember guys getting all excited about these when I still played. Kangaroo leather or something? No wear at all on soles/cleats but Adidas branding on insoles is slightly worn. Anyway, I think I can make $50 or so minimum on these, since apparently cleats are the one item this shop doesn't jack through the roof. Though part of me wants to slap them on and kick a ball around a bit.

Sporting goods are one of the best value areas for personal use. currently, 100% of sporting goods in my house are Thrifted.

Dingman, what is cordovan split cowhide mean?

cordovan is a color. the color of rich, rich burgundy.

split means that it's not full grain, they literally plane sheets of leather off of a super thick hunk of hide (sort of similar to plywood) and then surface it. why didn't you show the face of the leather you're asking about?

also:

that watch is fuggin cool!

15 hr day today, 10 more tomorrow; if I did my math correctly, and things keep going the way they are, I should have enough to pay for fixing my car with my first paycheck.

Just a heads up and a question:

Any of you ps4 guys downloaded the Star Wars Battlefront open beta? It's pretty fun. 40 man multiplayer on Hoth is Kreygasm.

Did you just go completely ******* insane today? :D  Best thing here is the LE Knit. Maybe the RRL Oxford.

The ties are all for a friend who just likes designer stuff and doesn't care about quality much. Also, for $6 a suit, I've been doing alright selling the Lauren stuff on eBay for around $50 and netting a reasonable profit for not too much work. Probably from people who just like Lauren, but they never seem to sit too long before I sell them on eBay. I will not dispute that most of these are not quality garments, but they do sell and that's what I'm mostly interested in when flipping items.

Thanks, @everyone, for the thoughtful condolences via post, PM and text. It means so much to me to have you all "close by" at a time like this, when I live so far from my friends and family.

We are ok. We are trying to stay as busy as possible. That strategy worked about 20% of the time yesterday, but today I'm shooting for 21%.

Did go out yesterday, all day, because Holly convinced me it was better than sitting home by myself. I hit 10 stores, well, I went to 10 stores....not sure I really HIT any of them. I mostly just wandered around in a daze, but did bring home a few things to make the trip worth it.

Most surprisingly....I finished my rig for the wedding next weekend.

When I took off my shoes after I snapped the fit pic the other day, they literally fell apart in my hand (they were just cheapo poly rentals with rubber soles).

Saw a single pair of patents yesterday, and damn if they weren't in my exact size. Also found a bow tie, just in case I am not receiving one as a gift from my sister.

More on the rest.... to follow.
