Hello all,

Found some nice looking monkstraps on a local auction site and got them. Have not received them but trying to find out a little more. The seller claims C&J manufactured them, and it seems to agree with what I've found online, however I googled the numbers stamped in the shoe and one (8896) comes up as a John Lobb last(?). Anyone able to look at the attached image and determine for sure if these are C&J? Thanks!

I just checked a pair of C&J monks I own and the stamping is almost identical - though the numbers to the left on mine are 9472-12 which does correspond to the model I own. Mine also has the model name above the size, though I can't quite make it out on yours.

Maybe when you receive them in better light, you'll be able to get the name. But as far as the stamping goes, it's very similar to mine.

Congrats on a fine purchase, any more pics?

Hello, the model name is "Portsmouth" apparently. I will post some pics once I actually receive them, this one was from the auction listing. I paid 710 SEK (approx 100 USD) for them and they are supposed to be in excellent condition, so feel like I am getting a decent deal.

Thanks! Adding one more pic from the listing that shows how the actual shoe looks. :)

Well, got them in the mail today and they look to be in excellent condition. Gave them a quick once over with Saphir Renovateur and some Kiwi and they look like new. Been googling a bit and they look quite a bit like C&J Savilles, possible they are made on the same last?

(The shoe trees I had in for polishing only, they are getting proper cedar ones, don't worry!)
