so early and already hot, wish I'd worn more of a NN summer fit
I think what I like most about NN fits is his "I dont give a **** attitude", 'cuz that's always the best attitude to have
So, do you live in some sort of minimalist industrial space and just do crazy body weight exercises and Parkour all day?

Incidentally, the Parkour workout places in France are a terrific mixture of super yoked dudes, usually of North African descent, doing crazy stuff, and skinny white French dudes who get clowned on (tough to be super cool at a Parkour place if you can't do a dip or a pullup). There are also the regular puffed up bro types, but you see those all over the States, so, hardly as interesting for a North American.

Honestly I think that trying to give Regis advice on how he should dress feels like trying to teach Mark Knopfler to play the guitar.

He's one of the best dressed here by far. Not to mention that he'd probably be the best dressed to 99% of people outside SF, in the 'real world' where 95% of people don't care about clothes. The goth-ninja-hobo-from-the-future look will only be appreciated in a few places like SF/SZ.

Spacepope's outfits, to name someone who masters that kind of look, are not going to impress most people who are not into clothes. And don't even mention how much one of his fits cost, they would have a hard time trying to believe it.

Not saying that anyone should care about what others think about the way they dress, but I'd say people appreciating it is a plus.

this is really stupid. what's the threshold for being able to give advice to a poster? is there a thumbs/fit formula? are you tracking this? i also clearly understand the MMM aesthetic and the way MMM suiting fits.

fashion, including personal style, is constantly evolving. people here change aesthetics every six months (or less). spacepope used to wear tons of workwear. regis started posting here wearing a lot of euro-trash stuff and at one time wore schneider. appreciation is also a terrible metric. there have some been some amazingly dressed posters who have gotten a terrible reception here - SF judgement is useful to a point, but the site can be very limited by what's currently en vogue.

not to be a total dick, but sometimes people here pre-judge pieces and brands before they've ever handled or experienced them. lots of italian suiting looks like garbage on the hanger but fits like a dream when it's worn. there are some brands that don't photograph well, and two-dimensional photographs aren't really a great medium for appreciating three-dimensional clothing.

also, as i've mentioned, there's a difference between appreciating a brand and appreciating an aesthetic. don't get me wrong - i think 99% of the time regis looks fine, but he doesn't purchase any of the particularly designed MMM pieces. most of what it seems he likes is how the clothing fits him, which is nice, and the general vibe, but i don't know if that's the same as someone like timboplete or some of the other EG fans.

for me, and for some other people here, the goal isn't so much to look 'good' against a yardstick, but rather to pursue fashion in and of itself. i enjoy clothing. i dress within a pretty limited range of brands and styles, but i still love handling, exploring and trying on different types of clothing. artificially limiting yourself when you don't have a huge range of experiences seems kind of sad. styleforum is at its best when it helps introduce previously unknown designers and looks to a wider marketplace, and when people transform clothing into something new. look at parker with crockett & jones - he's wearing tassled snuff suede loafers with wide-legged cop pants and a dries van noten shawl jacket.

Edit: to conclude, Regis understood the spirit of my suggestion and we were able to have a discussion about fit and aesthetics. Trying to day that "how dare you make suggestions to him- he has so many thumbs and regular people would like his stuff!" Is stupid as hell and contrary to the premise of this thread

First in a long time. Kapital kogin outlaw cap and Garbstore and Indigo Farms Judo jacket. Double overpainted.

hi @LA Guy, can you post photos of this jacket where it doesn't look like you are in a dimly lit federal building used to waterboard terrorists? It looks cool but I can't see ****, and I wanna see the paint deal

hehe. Um, yeah, I'll try that tonight. During the day, it's way too hot to wear that thing. Also, that was a new phone, and I could figure why it wouldn't focus quickly. But... turns out I forgot to take the plastic cover off of the camera... so...

Yeah, I'll try again tonight.

Incidentally, that is my master bathroom, which is a mix of organic and industrial. It's a concrete shower and sinks, but then bamboo floors. The walls are deliberately non-descript. That was my project (well, conceived by me, made by someone who knows wtf they are doing) a few years ago.

Wow, my comment really offended you, didn't it. FYI it was definitely my intention.

I just think that Regis knows what he's doing. And I felt it was pretty obvious to everyone else but you, apparently, that he was not willing to accept your advice since he politely declined it several times yet you kept insisting. I'm pretty sure he hears 'try this or this other brand, why always Margiela' like every week. So yes, I thought you were wasting your time and that your (valuable) advice would be better spent on someone else who needs it more than Regis, although of course it's up to you to give advice to whoever you please.
