Just a quick heads-up, but I stopped by my local Macy's and they had a clearance table of ties, mostly Nautica, Tommy Hilfiger, Sean John and the occasional Alfani, but there was also a pretty large selection of Polo ties, all marked originally at $95 and discounted to $71.50, but the table had a huge sign that said $12.99. I picked out a few and walked up to the clerk expecting to haggle the tagged price versus the signed price, but lo and behold, they rang up at $12.99. Picked up five silk (two Sudbury Stripe, two dotted/print, one skinny club tie) and a wool tie with a dotted paisley. They also had ones with dolphins, some type of sailboat print, a black with white polka-dots, a black crest/stripe narrow tie, and various purples that I didn't pay attention to.

That kind of thing'll happen every so often at Macy's; you just have to walk-in on the right day with the right sale going on. Frankly, sales of that type are why I've personally become more of a Macy's fan over the past year or so.

Stopped by another Macy's today and checked out the Polo section. The ties weren't marked as clearance, they weren't on a table with various other brands like at the first Macy's (they were mostly by themselves, with a few Joseph Abboud and Hugo Boss mixed in) but as I was looking at them, the associate told me that they are only $12 (as I suspected) so I grabbed a red paisley. Sounds like they are on sale pretty much everywhere, even if they aren't marked.

I went to Macy's a few weeks ago at the Beverly Center in LA and everything I wanted - including two Congressman jackets that were 595 each - were marked down to 29.99.

I bought two Chino suits with four pairs of matching pants and the two sport coats for 240 bucks. Amazing.

That said, everything else at Macy's is not too great. Have you tried on a pair of INC pants. Uggh.

I went to Macy's in the Roosevelt Field Mall today. All Polo and Hugo Boss ties were $12.99. I bought two of each and left a whole bunch. The manager told me that they will not be carrying either brand's ties any longer since they don't sell. I actually pulled two of them off of mannequins. There are still at least a combined ten ties left at that location from those brands.

Bloomingdales had a lot of (somewhat nicer) Polo ties for $30.

Keep in mind the Macys in Boston and NY belong to Macys' East. Their pricing structure is different from those of us living on the West Coast, which belongs to Macys' West with headquarter in SF.

Argh, sorry Mark. But I didn't know about the pricing structures, Material Boy. Good thing I had the location in my profile; these ties were bought in Central Mass.

it's ok, though. i'm currently interning in the finance dept. of one of macy's corporate divisions in nyc, so at least i still have an everything-inclusive employee discount. ;-)
