Hating on loafers with suits is group-think around here. Maybe because 9/10 times it's not a very good look. Crat is an exception, actually pulling it off very well.

N.B. I've tried it myself, with far less success.

I'm guessing that that jacket is too small for you though. It's clearly pulling at the waist

Thanks for the input. I think the reason it looks like it's pulling at the wait is because I have a journal tucked in the inside pocket and I forgot to take it out for the pic.

That shirt is much, much too formal for that heavy knit cardigan. I know you don't like button down collars, but for something like this you need a rumpled OCBD. There's no alternative. Either get with the programme or don't wear fits like this.

Not happening, on either count. Though agreed, a spread like this, regardless of the casual pattern, is far too formal for the tie and sweater. And an OCBD is perfect for this fit. But I won't be getting any OCBD's any time soon. Nor will I cease wearing spreads in casual fits (I even wear them without ties! And without jackets!! With jeans or shorts!!! Untucked with sleeves rolled up!!!!)

Just give it a try. Once I was like you as well, refusing to even come close to a buttondown, until I bought one by accident.

Just buy one nice one. Wear it with a tie, wear it without a tie, whatever. See how that fabric gets softer every time you wash you it. Before you know it, it'll be your favourite shirt.
