Thanks, Murl. The common element I see in the combinations I like is a livelier tie. For example, Clags' subdued combo is so sober that you expect to see trousers, so the jeans are a bit discordant. In the pic above, the brighter tie dials down the seriousness, bringing the top closer to the bottom.

As for psg's fit, I so expected to see one of his soft, blue jackets that I'm a bit knocked off balance and can't really evaluate what he's worn. Keeping us on our toes, Gus?

Sugar- my wife and I have a meeting today. She said, "I'm wearing blue jeans and a navy blazer. Don't want to look like twins. Can you wear a jacket that isn't blue?" So, thus the khaki twill cotton jacket look. But ideal for warm and sunny SF today

I was considering a grey SC. I think it is a combo that works well. I have two. One herringbone light "tweed" and one in hop sack. Both with patch pockets etc for low formality.
