as of now that is the last known Zug leather so it would be quite tough. However, this boot is very similar in look (same last) and leather and is available

http://usastore.westleyrichards.com/edward-green-galway-rosewood-country-boot

The 64 last from the 82 changes the look of the boot quite a bit and makes it much more rugged

Crazy, congrats on those beauties. Maybe I will have to pick up an EC just to ease the pain of ever seeing those Galways lol.

Shoe descisions... lol

Five boots in different leathers and colours, and all of them with speed hooks? I get it on the countrified grain leathers, maybe even the cordovan...but on the smooth calf versions...I can't do it.

Goodbye, navy boot... *sniff*

Why don't you just vote for the navy option? You don't want the hooks? They'll never be visible when wearing them anyway! Unless you plan on wearing them with shorts!

I did vote for navy. But in my mind, hooks are for heavy country boots. These are sleek and smooth and derbies or not, I'd wear them with a suit or dress trousers as well. It just wouldn't sit right with me.

So if just one out of five boots had eyelets all the way - blind or not - I'd want it to be the navy [edit: or merlot calf]. Anyway, that's the point of MTO I guess - going for the average request, and some people at one end or another will get lost along the way. No biggie. Maybe I'll get one of the grain ones (AE's shell mark up is too big IMHO).

Just voted - very exciting!

My ONLY request . . . if it's possible . . . is to go with blind eyelets on the shell Townley instead of the brass.  I want to use it as a dressier shoe and the brass eyelets take away from the dressiness IMO.  Not a deal-breaker, but maybe it would be possible for them to make the eyelets blind on my pair?

(and maybe add a medallion? lol)

I also have a slight preference for blind eyelets on the shell Townleys, but I am still in either way. If the survey allowed multiple answers, then I probably voted for both.

I only took the latest survey once.

Thanks for all your work on this watchidiot!!!!

Regarding the medallion, I can't understand why anyone would want to poke more holes in such beautiful leather! ;-)

OFFICIAL UPDATE: ALLEN EDMONDS SF GMTO

Make-Up 1
Model: Eagle County
Upper: Brown shell cordovan with tone-on-tone stitching
Welt: Chili flat welt
Sole: Mini-lug tap sole with leather midsole
Edge Dressing: Medium brown edge dressing
Eyelets: Brass eyelets and speedhooks, with the 3 top most being speedhooks
Insole & Lining: Independence insole & lining

Here is the latest survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2V9TPFD

Survey will be open until Saturday 11:45PM. If in the event there is limited number of shoes that can be made for a certain make up due to any shortage of leather, I will use this list to prioritize the orders. So vote now!

I'm in for the brown shell EC's even though I was able to snag a pair of burgundy shell Daltons this morning from Shoebank. They're a D width when an E fits me perfectly in the 511 last. I hope they fit! According to the SA, they're in good shape cosmetically. We'll see!

This can tide me over for the 8 weeks waiting on the GMTO EC's!

Thanks Watch for all of your effort on this!

So, to anybody out there interested in the navy Eagle County, I have a couple of points I'd like to address regarding the makeup:

  • Would anyone be interested in changing the welt/edge/sole combination from all black to add in some kind of chili and/or brown? Alison advised me to do this on my merlot Eagle County's and I'm SO glad she did. I believe this is what really took the boot to the next level (see below) and it can really take the Navy to the next level as well. It looks like the group had a 3-way split between the edge/welt color (see below for options), so it might not be a big deal to the group to change
  • If anyone is interested in getting the top speedhook/eyelets changed to eyelets, that would be my recommendation for the group. I changed the top one to be a speedhook (it is normally an eyelet), and I have regretted it. It could be due to my skinny ankles (?), but I have a very difficult time in keeping the top speedhook laced up. If I were to redo it, I would have kept the top hook as an eyelet and only the 2 beneath them as speedhooks. Just my 2 cents

My merlot Eagle Counties...the contrast edge is what I believe make it pop. Also, note the top speedhook - I would have changed this to an eyelet:

Some Meermin navy calf shoes with brown or chili edging...just as a reference point:

The answer choices that we submitted for welt and edge:

I'd go for that, but no speedhooks at all, make it more sleek and dressy. In either navy or merlot. Lovely.

But this is a democratic process. I shall ponder the chilli grain calf (have a brown grain MTO coming already...)

Speedhooks do not make or break my choices here, but my only pair of EC boots have 2 speed hooks below a single top eyelet. I like this set up best because a top speed hook often pops my lace off, since they end up very close together.

I did not vote for merlot or grain, but still may grab final products there.

I like Allison's suggestions via Tjyoung.

Gents, I'll leave the minor changes to in-group discussions within those people who have committed to order that particular make-up they want to change. Until then, I'll maintain status quo on the polls.

For additional info I have a Dainite with leather midsole and I much prefer it to just the Dainite.

Here is where we sign up for the orders: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2V9TPFD

I think some of the members of this thread need to get over to AE immediately. Who designs the stuff they are putting out nowadays it's awful. A wingtip chelsea boot really?

The stuff on this thread is light years beyond.
