A2, I think it is a lovely jacket.

I never really thought about the one button sportcoat before though. It does not particularly speak to me, but I guess I am not particularly against it either. I would actually very much like to have a one button single breasted peak lapel suit at some point.

Aportnoy posted one before from Despos, and it was absolutely fantastic.

Looks good to me. Connoisseurs will know it's Huntsman, or at least expensive British tailoring, but it's a very nice jacket. Having said that, I wouldn't pay 2 grand for an OTR jacket. Plenty of tailors can make a beautiful bespoke one button jacket for that kind of money.

I been thinking a bit about the degree of dressiness of daytime odd jacket/ blazer styles. As I mentioned, other factors being equal this looks to me a bit dressier than a two-button jacket would. What do you think?

A2, that's a lovely jacket. And owning a Huntsman RTW, I can confidently say that, should you have the money (as in, the purchase would have at most a negligible impact on spending/saving habits), it's worth it. Probably one of the few RTW items I'd say that about.

I didn't see until just now that you weren't actually considering purchasing it. I'm....a little disappointed. I woulda been super thrilled to see how it turned out.

One button jackets always seem a little evening wear-ish to me, and it might be a risk, but I can see it working out.

I'd say in the UK/London it's considered to be a bit flashy. It's kind of the Huntsman trademark, and it's easy to spot with the way the quarters are shaped. It's basically an X, with the single button being the midpoint. So, it's not exactly UCBD, but it is certainly a bit dressier than a two button blazer. I'd love to own one like that in the future, albeit with a different lapel shape.

I read somewhere (perhaps The Rake) that true British bespoke tailors don't make two button jackets. Either one or three is considered to be appropriate. The Rake also did a great feature on the Huntsman cut and their house tweeds 2 issues ago, if you can get your hands on it. I think Exquisite Trimmings sells previous issues.
