Anyone have any suggestions of nice chelsea boots to go with jeans? I sort of like these:

I saw a nice looking pair online at barneyscoop.com (I'm too lazy to pull up the link). They were $265, which I think is about $75-100 too much to pay for their house brand, but they looked cool. I plan to buy a pair when they get their first markdown.

You're probably going to be told to get rm williams a billion times, and you really should. They're about 200 something with the discount. weeha

I have a pair of brown RM Williams (8.5-9D American) for sale -- check my signature. Perfect for jeans with a slim hem.

I like the looks of this one from barney's co-op, and its on sale (yeah, it's a zip up and not a chelsea, but i'm calling an aubible and throwing this one out).

No idea about the quality, though.

I currently have a pair of bruno magli kents as my black chelsea to be worn with dark denim. the rl oxnard in brown shell cordovan is my brown dress boot for the same situation.

I liked those too except I don't like a black shoe with a light sole.

that's exactly why i like them.

after all, all of my black boots (and there are quite a few) have a black sole. a change of pace seems nice. plus the pebble grain seems even more interesting.

of course, it might not be the best idea as the lone black boot in one's possession. my chelsea is virtually identical in appearance to the AE taunton above, down to the weird triangular piece in the inside upper - which is virtually invisible when worn.

You can always paint the sole edges with brown or black edge dressing - problem solved.

I was considering the brown ones: http://www.barneyscoop.com/b/c/brows...egoryId=357056 since I want to get a pair of brown boots to wear riding, but I need rubber soles and I'm not sure zip-ups would fit tightly enough.

I'll mainly be wearing these with bootcuts, not so much a 'slim hem'.... and already have a zip up. Keep the suggestions flowing.

Avatar,

Under bootcut or other large-hem jeans, a sleek chelsea may be dwarfed if you have smaller feet like me (hence my selling the RM Williams). Have you considered a slightly larger boot like the Frye Brando Lace-ups or Brando Engineers?

I wish there were some nice, well made, cheaper chelsea/ankle boots out there.

I'm used to Red Wings @ $120+ new, $60+ seconds, $15+used.

Is there a red wing equivalent (affordable, solid, unspectacular) in the short boot world?

I think Blundstones would be the one.

Red wing makes a great chealsea (2917), in a more "rugged" style that might work better with jeans with bigger hems.

I have a pair of brown Mark Nasons that are zip-up. They're 13s. I wear 13/14 in sneakers for the most part. Just bought some 14 flip-flops that look absolutely massive next to friends' stuff.

I do kind of like the Frye Harness. I like Harness boots too.

I'll get **** for this, but I also like these:
