I am very much interested in this project and I want to give thumbs up to hoit1981 for taking an initiative.

Honestly it's no problem at all. I'm just happy the C&J are so flexible. I've emailed Steve again with a few more questions and will update the thread when he responds.

It was just an idea to get a few modified Harlech boots made for SF members. The Harlech sells for £575 in the UK and probably more in the USA. With the UK price and deduction of VAT it would come to £471 + shipping. This comes from the GM so I doubt it's wrong. I would be happy to provide the email chain.

At the moment the consensus is:

Harlech
Brown cordovan
All eyelets
Storm welt
Ridgeway sole

Sounds like a badass boot :)

I'm in with that spec. Don't have a brown cordovan boot for the Canadian winter. :)

Ok so I heard back from Lauren at C&J.

1. In regards the widths, they all have to be the same... "The reason behind this is that we have specific patterns and this would mean that we would not be making up a batch of the same boots, they would be different boots if the widths were different".

2. The Ridgeway sole is no problem. It looks pretty cool to me and all the reviews I've read are positive.

3. They are unable to ship the completed boots to the US for distribution... "Unfortunately we are unable to send it to a store in the US because you are not placing the order through that store. If you place the order through the NY store then we could send them the shoes but then the prices will be higher as I am sure you are well aware".

So, the limits of the group MTO are a minimum of 6 and maximum of 12. Therefore, I think we need to compile a list of people now who are serious about taking part in the MTO. If you are interested please just shoot me a PM with your 341 last size. I will then update this thread accordingly.

I will also head to C&J NY this week to try on the 341 last. I'm a 13D in the 325 (RL Marlow Wingtip) so at the moment I'm assuming I'll be this in the 341. Sizing will be highly important as there will be no refunds for size mistakes.

Personally I'm pretty excited at the prospect of this boot!

That is unfortunate. I'd love to participate, but I need a F width. Pity.

Is the ridgeway better on snow/ice/slush? Looks solid.

To be honest the only thing safe on ice is a Yaktrax but the ridgway will be better on snow/ice/slush than dainite or leather soles.

I never had cordovan before so I am planning on wearing these through adverse conditions to see if cordovan is really what is cracked up to be.

My vote would be for a leather sole as well.  Beater boots for crappy days Scotch Grain for rain..

Well we need the minimum of 6 orders per style so I guess whichever comes first.
For me leather sole is not an option though

Well I'm open to suggestions. I could do leather sole but then we might as well just go for the regular Harlech (and keep the speed hooks). I would prefer the Ridgeway though as it looks decent for wet weather. My initial idea for this MTO was for a modified Harlech - kind of a Harlech on 'roids if you will. I was thinking no speed hooks and Ridgeway would look (and wear) pretty decent.
