That Omega is really beautiful- nearly has a Biedermeier-en-miniature- like simplicity to it (if you excuse the somewhat strange im-/expression); very elegant!

This is my first serious +$1k watch. I bought it 12 months ago after I got my current job and was over the moon and still very much am.

Some watch enthusiasts may look down on it because its a quartz however for me it does the job of keeping the time and looking neat without having to think about whether its stopped or lost time.

It is a blue faced dial and sure it can be argued that this is not a versatile color, however I think it ads some flare particularly with a suit. One of my colleagues has a similarly colored Rolex and forgetting for the moment it is a Rolex, I think the color works well on him.

The simplicty of the dial is also a plus for me. I do intent to shortly buy a Swiss Diver however this one I think will always be the one I wear to work the and the one I wear as I create my own history.

I have no intention of leaving this watch or any other watch as an heirloom. I am giving my kids and their kids the freedom to decide whether watches will be important to them, and the freedom if so to choose and work for the one that they desire.

The chosen combination - not as beautiful! But I think it's cool you choose your own design (well, it's a Type II with orange hands, but still...) instead of just a normal Type I/II. How long did you have to wait? What are your impressions?

Mmmyes, I'm having second thoughts about the orange hands - as opposed to popular opinion, I prefer the Type II to the Type I, mostly because I like the way the numbers on the bezel and dial correspond perfectly in font and size. Why do so many watches use wildly different typefaces for bezels/dials? Well, I finally found one where the numbers do match. Besides, I love the lack of branding on the dial. The watch is the heaviest and biggest I own, so it took me a couple of days to get used to the size and weight. This one really does feel like I'm wearing a tank on my wrist.

Where do most of you buy your vintage Omega watches?

Not very pornographic but I'm excited about my new used Seiko Spirit. $150 on eBay. I've been wearing my Zenith on a daily basis and I thinkI'm better off with the Seiko in certain situations.

Please forgive my asking questions in this thread instead of posting pictures, I just didn't think this warranted a new topic, and I don't feel like signing up to Timezone. Does anyone know the strap size for this Seiko? I'm going to order it from Roachman, but also want to order a leather band at the same time, because I don't like bracelets and don't want to wait to measure it myself. Thanks a lot. I'll also re-post this photo by sanrensho, which confirmed that I needed this watch as my first automatic, and needed it to have a leather strap.

18mm would be my guess. Both mine and my brothers are Seiko 5s, both 18mm
