I'm in for D size 7.5 with danite sole. Will 2030 last fit similar to Alden Truebalance last? I wear 7.5 Alden Indy boots now.

The excavated boot would be an all black version of this:

Is this semi-accurate?

Great job VLSI.

Though to be honest, I would prefer to get these boots new instead of pre-distressed, breaking them in so that they perfectly shape to your foot is half the fun. Also the extra costs involved outweigh the benefits in my mind.

Yeah, that's the one. imo, it would be that boot, but in a 2.0, new and improved model. It's also the one that I sorta want for myself, even though the 2030 last is not the ideal last for me (it looks great on, just doesn't feel great on my freaky wide feet). In related news, my Vibergs came. They are awesome and intense. They are sort of like the Visvim Virgils, but in a cool leather than never got made (mine are in Horween roughout heather grey leather with a contrasting heel counter). Would anyone be interested in getting "Fok's boots"? I know that there was a smattering of interest before, but I didn't want to be too egocentric.

I'd be down with some roughout boots in heather grey, post pics!

I snagged a 2030 cordovan pair of service boots and pair of cxl 2045 oxfords from the sample sale, but that excavated french calf sounds interesting. I'm partial to the 2030 look (right on the cusp, *widefeet problems), and I'd imagine the two tone would look pretty great on it as well. An aside, those oxfords in 2045 are pretty damn comfortable.

As it looks like the two tone is trailing, I'd be down for either a Fok-ed roughout or excavated calf in black with leather soles. I'm so/so towards Iced Mocha, not really my thing.

As I understand it, orders can be placed for any of the make-ups that at least 4 people will commit to buy. So, assuming that everyone who voted is actually willing to go through with a corresponding purchase (probably only applies to the two-tone as there are way more than 4 votes for all the other make-ups), then I think all of the proposed make-ups will be made. Fok, do I understand correctly?

So, according to this poll, all systems would be a go. However some snags. Unfortunately, I cannot change the poll:

for option D) , it would have to be done in Copper Task which has been our replacement for Vintage Tan since that is no longer available. Price would be slightly higher than $680. It would probably be more on the $710 range. This is a boot in copper task roughout:

for option E) "is impossible for the time being as both leathers are out of stock. The Brown CXL is being ordered again, but the Scotch Grain Whiskey Cavalier is not. I believe we have the non-printed version of it coming at some point because we did sample it for SS14." However, we could talk about options for different 2 colors. I've asked Guy to give some leather options that we could discuss.

just a suggestion...wouldn't it be better to keep this thread "clean" in some sort of way ?
otherwise it's just going to be "another Viberg thread"!

let's focus on the builts + pics and keep the chitchat in the official thread i'd say...

This thread is specifically for talking about the boots suggested, and modifications to the proposals. For example, it's an open question whether people are more interested in a Dainite or a leather sole for option B. And because there is no tan leather available, I suggested an alternative for us to discuss. Yes. general talk about Viberg, including other makeups, should be in the Viberg thread.

Cheers,

Fok.

That is quite the bummer (it happens though; no worries) . Kills both of the make-ups I wanted. In regard to D, I would probably advocate the roughout used on the boondocker rather than the copper. I am also really interested in some kind of two-tone offering. So I at least would be interested in other suggestions along those lines that Guy or anyone else has.

It's a bummer for me as well. It sorta sucked to see Guy's email, but I probably shouldn't have jumped the gun on those two makeups.

The leather used in the boondocker is pretty cool. I'll ask Guy about that. Why would you prefer that to the copper? Just trying to think of other leathers that might be similar.

I've already asked Guy about other two tone offerings that would be similar to the two tone offering similar to the proposed, and I'm excited to see what he comes back with.

Cheers,

Fok.

For those that voted B can we start discussing details.

Probably the biggest one is sole. I'd be in for single leather but if the majority wanted another option id be OK with that. I tried searching for what single leather with Vibram 705 half sole is but didn't find anything.

Second is the last. I'm fine with 2030. I don't have a real odd shaped foot so I've been fine with any last I've ever tried. I don't have any experience with Viberg tho.

As for the tongue, I'd vote for brown over black. Ok with brass eyelets.

Do I get a special vote as the originator of the makeup?

For me, I would really prefer the Dainite sole. I envision using this boot in plenty of inclement weather as well as inside some factories so I would need a sole other than a leather sole.

I am voting for Dainite sole on B.

With the number of votes for that boot, it may be possible (may be, don't get your hopes up too high yet), that we could do both versions.

However, my personal opinion is that a boot like that sort of demands the tougher, dainite, sole. For me, the boot you want a leather sole on is something that is patently vintage looking, like the "excavated" boot.

For me, the icy mocha chromexel on the 2030 last walks that fine line between tough and pretty. Just one man's opinion.

I'm fine with dainite. I do need a more rugged, tougher boot in my repertoire

2 for dainite.
