@benn25 what i found about fantasees is:

1960s, 1970s, and early 1980s
one of the rarest of all vintage Bausch & Lomb lenses - the ultra-gradient mineral glass lens.
they exactly stopped producing because the cost were too high.

they can come in amazing colors for that era even sometimes two tone colored like blue/grey. (not mine :-()
BL etching is sometimes laying.

some come with FANTASEES on the left! lens. never together with Ray-Ban on the left. they normally come in a special case specially for the fantasees line. Google and you'll find all about them on this known vintage sunglasses re seller side. i can paste the url but since i see almost no one doing this im not sure if its appropriated, same for copy and pasting their text...?!

i own a pair of odm from early 80's with Ray-Ban logo. i know and would buy a bullet hole shooter in new condition for a fair price. if its still for sale.
ebay prices are like 300 - 500 $ but mostly buy it now. or make an offer. ive done that twice now and made good deals ;-)
my odm fantasees are not beauties. it was my first pair of ray bans i bought. how much did i know. i thought it was dream come true to even find one for sale for less then 125 pound. its in fair used condition i would say. the lenses and frame are actually quite good, the temples lost their color a bit near the hings.
bought them from the first owner, an old doctor :)

a nice find would be a white gold fantasees ;-)

Thanks oosterling. You know Im not an aviator man, but good info nonetheless.

I have a pair of frost wayfarers with fantasee lenses and knowing most are on aviators I think I may have a very rare pair of wayfarers with the frame and lens combo.

Thanks again :)

As
Can anyone give me some info on Fantasee lenses please. First known circa production? Lens quality comparable to other B&L lenses? Anything else of interest.

I'm fairly sure they went through the 70s-80s in not massive numbers due to production costs but a fair stretch of time. Hence why some lines have nothing on the lenses, some have FANTASEES on the right lens and some have just Ray Ban on the left.

Quality is supposed to be pretty amazing, super light weight and darken a lot quicker than changeables.

I think in all honesty they were made as a "fashion" glass, being able to wear them inside and out. But I think some of them look great. To pick up a pair I think you'd want near enough NOS with orginal box and case, I'd want a pair with FANTASEES on the lens too.

Just seen oosterling replied too! Good stuff glad we are on the same lines!

someone every heard of genuine/fake precious metal shooters black/gold, details correct, except:
curled temples
no ray ban logo on relief but plain Ray-Ban etching.
no unique serie number

but, BL etching is correct, frame and temples and nose pads and lenses look genuine Ray Ban Bausch & Lomb.
the bridge states B&L RAY-BAN U.S.A. the lenses look a bit matt...?! some one can confirm BL lenses could be matt?

they price the seller ask is very acceptable. even if its not a PM but still genuine vintage Ray-Ban imo.
what to do...?

by the way, the looks of the pair is super

That's amazing, I'd like to see them? Never seen them in wayfarer, few caravans around but not that!

I've seen a lot of one where they have replaced the frames and put precious lenses in a standard frame. Send me over a link?

Just waiting for my phone to come back from the repair centre so will be doing a vid once I get it back. Yea thought it was a rare find when I saw it. Pretty chuffed really. Everything is in order too with BL etching at 180 degrees (3/9 oclock). Which Im guessing is the special edt. version?

Hey so i was digging through my dads old stuff and found these. Don't know much about Ray Ban sunglasses except that they might be worth something. Hoping you can tell me a bit about them and about how much they are worth. Id really appreciate it thanks. -Tim

also curious to the wayfarer fantasees @benn25

as for getting a collection, it was already early mentioned the goal would be to get as close as NOS condition. myself im not that critical. i dont mind a pair of glasses is used and lived. of course the condition should be very good but for me they dont need to be NOS or like new. not necessarily

I'm fairly sure from the pic they are fake mate. The nose pads are all wrong, and the Ray Ban on lens doesn't look right. Definitely not precious metals. I too don't think there is anything wrong with not NOS, most of mine aren't new. Just some pairs you really want to be as close to perfect as possible.
