I don't know why but that came over as some super-weak bro-brag.

Not trying to bro-brag just saying to people that weren't Greek that **** like this happens all the time (not as profanity laced and in your face) because to a certain perception is reality in the Greek system. My fraternity was the full of engineers who weren't rich and weren't gonna drug anybody but we had the lame reputation so we had to change.

No, I meant the quoted bit. I know it was totally accidental (and non-voluntary), it just came across like "posted from my mustang" or "posted from my dad's private jet". I'm only ribbing you.

I changed mine to say "Sent from my Motorola DynaTAC" just to see who would notice. Most of my friends apparently aren't observant or don't know their cellphone history.

That young "lady's" vulgar memorandum was dismaying on several counts:

It is a general symptom of the coarsening of the culture, especially, coming as it does from a woman.

It is an indictment of American higher education (which I generally despise anyway) that a college-educated (partially anyway) young woman can do no better than string a lot of the worst vulgarities in the language to express herself forcefully.

Finally, I thought that sororities made a least a pretense of maintaining standards of social gentility and ladylike behavior, although I suppose that is delusional of me.

But, this is all probably just the maundering of an old guy!

Oh, they make a pretense. Wearing dresses during formal events, etc. Very thin pretense though, as you'll find them getting drunk as hell, dancing poorly to hip hop, then vomiting on the bus on the way home.

This is a good letter, and good for society as a whole. There are enough anti-social people out there already who only talk to people they already know, and this fine lady is doing us a service by teaching her sistren to be a little more outgoing. Good for her. She is also trying to keep Sigma Nu from getting laid the way they normally do, roofies and date ****. They should honor her in an appropriate fashion. Maybe a gang bang.

More seriously, you people are lame. Why do you have to strip the world of fun. Sororities and fraternities are fun, great experiences you can look back on with a lot of warmth. People are so ******* stripped of fun now. So neutered. Go **** yourselves.

I went to college in a catholic university here more than 20 years ago. I've had my share of lady friends with vulgar languages even then.

Everything Matt wrote is so true.
In my days at Uni I noticed that the most judgmental and dismissive students were the types that did not belong to any frats and sororities. Most of the frat types were busy having fun and being idiots (in a good way) while many of the non frat types were busy talking about how awful our lives must be etc....
Boring sororities are sometimes fun to hang out with too as they don't like it when beer is thrown in the air etc. The screaming of vain boring girls when the beer hits their hair or clothing is hilarious.:embar:
