Please advise me on a Suit.

Hello everyone.

I am new on the forum and I am looking for some advice on buying a suit. In a few months time I am going to visit my family in Las Vegas, I would like to wear suit when I meet them. It would be nice as they are classy/serious people, and I started liking suits after watching the TV show Suits anyway so I am happy doing so. Just going to mention that I am 18 years old, I am 6.5"ft tall and have 38" in chest.

I was looking around for a longer while and I found few suits I like, for example this one: WASHINGTON BLUE HERRINGBONE. It's a dark navy colour which I like, I wouldn't mind a grey one, or charcoal, but can't be a black one. I am not looking for anything too expensive, I know that some of the suits can be really pricey. I would wear it to the airport and of course some other occasions. The maximum I am willing to spend is £300, unless there is something really worth an extra few notes. To the suit I've linked above, I would wear a grey/silver tie, and a white pocket square. Suit from the pictures below would be my best combo, hehe.

So maybe there is something else you could recommend?

The suits Harvey Specter wears are probably Ralph Lauren Purple Label, Tom Ford or Bespoke.
Therefore, you be probably best to look at the Washington of half Washington of Suitsupply.
I unfortunately don't know any other company who sells this suit style for this price/quality!

Tom Ford is the one credited for Havey's outfits. It may stretch your budget a tad I'd check out Malford of London (http://www.malfordoflondon.com/en/71-jackets) and getting trousers separately or seeing what they have in their suits section. Those will get you some great quality for the price. Charles Tyrwhitt is also good for the money as is SuitSupply (from what I've heard). I hear good things from the Washington on SuitSupply.

Be sure to also have money on the side for tailoring after you get your suit.

The lapels look a bit skimpy. Remind me more of Tom Ford's recent collections than of the "classic" Tom Ford look of the late 00s/early 10s.

Thanks for the replies. I have seen some reviews on Suitsupply and must say most of them are really positive. I had a look on Malford and didn't see anything interesting.
Ivar, you think? I actually like the lapels, but I am no expert...

The other ones that caught my eye are:

I also wanted to ask about a watch, should I wear one or will I look too "desperate" ?

Thank you for the answers. I will stick to suitsupply, there is nothing else I like and the other good ones are too expensive.

Ivar, are skimpy = really bad? I actually like them, but I am no expert.
Do you think a nice dark grey tie and a white pocket square will be fine? I was thinking about a silver tie but it would go wrong with a bright white shirt.
Another question I will ask, do you think it would be good to wear a watch, or will it look too "desperate"?

Of course you should wear a watch assuming that you normally do so, why on earth would you not? You might also consider that a white shirt is far too formal fora family occasion - if not this whole suit kick you currently have.

One of my friends told me that wearing a watch along with the suit at age of 18 would look too desperate, or rather "trying too hard type". I am not desperate, I just want to feel good.

@GBR. Too formal, but if I want to, is that wrong? Why not, I mean I like dressing smartly, will people look weird at me on the airport?

Not bad by any stretch, but I prefer my peaked lapels on the wide side. They're supposed to make a statement. Charcoal tie sounds good. Much better than silver.

Wearing a watch has nothing to do with being desperate.

In my opinion it is better to look at watch to check the time than on your mobile phone.

When you're used to wearing a watch you would not want to live without one.

Wait...If your family is "classy/serious," then why did it take a tv show to make you want to be classy/serious too?

As far as the suit goes, the pattern of the suit in your link is nice. I can't tell whether the suit in the photos is blue or grey, but it looks like it's striped, not herringbone. Whatever you choose, just make sure that it fits well. If you're going to spend $500, then at least make it presentable. I'm not familiar with suitsupply, but there are a lot of good online made to measure companies out there. I've bought a few suits from ModernTailor. I'd recommend it.

VinnyMac, sorry but maybe I have not got it right in my words.
Classy style was my normal style even before I've heard about the TV show, but it was more like classy-casual. After watching the TV show, something has changed in my mind and I have decided to get a suit after seeing how awesome they can really be, nothing wrong with that

. Anyway, I can't tell what colour it really is, I just bought it. We will see when it arrives, if it won't fit well, or the colour won't be as I expected it to be, I will just simply send it back.

I have not seen ModernTailor before, and wow you can customize everything, looks really good. I am definitely going to have a look around, and if the suit I bought won't be good enough, this is the place I will use next. Suitsupply picks their products for free so not bad.
