They are great looking!

Is it just a special grain finish or actually a special Russian calf? @Leaves
 ?

St. C's Russian leather is a calf grained leather, not the 1786 leather.

I think it's just called Russia calf. It's the tanning process and hatch grain pattern that characterizes it. I don't know if (and rather doubt) the calves or tanned leather actually comes from Russia.

i figured that it was that one. I remember talking about the Russia calf before in that it has the hatch grain as well as a different tanning process.

I have the St. C's loafer in the Russian leather, it's a nice look, but doesn't have the birch scent of the 1786 leather, or the patina from sitting under the ocean for 250 years.

Yes, and it does not crack, split, and wear down as easily as the old stuff either. These loafers look legit to me. Thanks for sharing more of your vast collection.

they still look great but yes I see the difference from the 1786 russian reindeer in the patina

Apologies for interrupting the St Crispin's love in, but these arrived today.

Just gorgeous. The marbling looks more subtle to my eye than what it appears in the photo.

Thanks Skoaktiebolaget team.

I had some StC swatches in my photo from my office stash too. Someone, I forget who, actually picked up on that, but I dunno if that was just a lucky guess.

Yup, I guess that was me.

Hmmm. It's not Lobb - that would be too obvious. And Alden doesn't fit quite right in Skoaks style imo. However, if my eyes aren't letting me down, there seem to be a bunch of leather swatches on the left side of the second shelf that I think look rather familiar. Now, where have I seen a bunch like that before...?

It wasn't a "lucky guess" though. I figured the swatches in your photo held together with the same kind of string as I've seen on StC swatches before:

Soooo, is there a price for the one who "cracked the code"? Maybe a pair of StC's?
