I think the Gucci bit loafer needs to be on the list .

As far as casual contenders : I would nominate the classic Bass Weejun but I can't find it anywhere. I think the Clark's dessert boot should be on the list along with the classic Sperry Top Sider. As far as canvas sneakers the Tretorn and the Jack Purcell.

In keeping with your additions I would add:

Clark's Wallabees

and from a different tradition, the veldtschoen:

Top 5 would definitely have to be, in no particular order.

1). EG Dover
2). Alden Longwing
3). RL Marlow
4). GG St James
5). AE Park Avenue

They get mentioned over and over again, despite coming from different levels of craftsmanship

Not sure about the final 5, but here are the candidates:

-AE Strand
-AE Mora
-RM Williams chelsea
-Alden flexwelt chukka
-Alden LHS loafer
-Alden Indy
-Corthay Arca
-JL William
-JL Jermyn
-JL Phillip
-EG Shannon
-RLPL Mackay
-RLPL Grant
-Vass U-Last austerity
-C&J Weymouth
-C&J Belgrave
-Bass Weejun
-JM Weston loafer

I didn't put the Gucci loafer on the list because I have seen many people say it's tacky.

I think there are a few shoes in the list that are only 'iconic' or 'famous' due to deep discount sales frenzies.

JM Weston 180s ... not too much love in the States but I`m sure the gents from the Eurozone must feel for it?

minez when brand new

I see JM Weston is not much popular here. Had it been in Japan, lots of people list 180, Golf, Hunt and Chelsea boots.

Alden Cordovan Long Wing Blucher - the "one shoe", and in cordovan
Allen Edmond Park Avenue - probably the #1 most recommended shoes
Allen Edmond Strand in Walnut - probably the #2 most recommended shoes
Edward Green Dover - the Norwegian split toe
Edward Green Galway - the country boots
Edward Green Shannon - the balmoral boots
John Lobb William - the double monk
John Lobb Phillips II - the ultimate dress shoes
Gaziano & Girling St James II - what made G&G G&G
Crockett & Jones Belgrave - the Plal bang-for-the-buck shoes that's the ticket to shoe discussions before Carmina

Great list!!
