G & G and EG shoes on sale at Edwards of Manchester - Page 24

Funny to read that "people don't buy the story" and "trying to get confirmation".

As i wrote before, i spoke with Hilary Freeman in person and asked her about EoM and she said without hesitation:

- We don't supply EoM any longer.

I don't think she was lying or trying to start a rumour and i personally don't need more confirmation than that. I still expect to get my shoes since i ordered them in January and EoM reached their quota for the year in March/April according to Hilary.

Well, they still have GG. That is until GG decides they don't like their shoes being sold on discount bi-annually. Same story as Barney's with GG...

Yes, but is it for this year or the foreseeable future?

Obviously they have been cut off for offering the 20% discount. Its a pity because I'd rather deal with them, on any reputable dealer really, rather than the EG store. Even at full price. Does anybody know of any other UK based shop (aside from Ashton and Marks) that you can use?

Wait, you're still waiting on your shoes from 9 months ago?

Guys, I think all this speculation on EoM is not healthy and does no good.  EoM is a reputable establishment and I am sure will continue to be and is not going under any moment soon.  I am sure people will either get their shoes or money back one way or another.  This is simply a situation whereby there's a disagreement between a supplier and retailer which unfortunately is now out in the public.  I hope the 2 parties can patch up their differences.

Knowing that it takes about 8 weeks for a pair of EG shoes to be made, it could easily be the case that production is taking slightly longer than usual. Assuming they started manufacturing in September, well we wouldn't expect to see stock until November.

I'm not sure how to reconcile that with Ms. Freeman having said "We don't supply EoM any longer" as reported above.  I don't pretend to know what's really going on and I certainly offer no speculation as to the fiscal welfare of EoM, but if they had been holding a large pile of my cash for weeks and months on end (particularly in respect of shoes that were supposedly 'in stock') I would be asking them some pretty pointed questions about their current and future status as an EG retailer.  The kind of questions that leave absolutely no wiggle-room whatsoever as to the content of the response.

I spoke to Mark. The shoes are being manufactured and are expected to be completed within 5 weeks.

This thread is getting hilarious.

Have any of you guys thought that some of these comments are put on here by EOM's competitors . I have always had good service from them. I am sure you all know how slow Edward Green are, I do not think they have embraced the 21st century yet.

It would not surprise me in the slightest. Mark has been exceptional to liaise with on the phone. EG can be a complicated manufacturer to do conduct business with. Especially when half the factory is on holidays!
