Couldn't agree with you more Culver.

I think it's a great look that deserves a revival.

Very glad I've found this thread. We are moving in to winter in the antipodes I've been looking for a few with great difficulty. I basically want a thin merino, no ribbing or anyof that malarkey just a fairly fine gauge in a slim fit in charcoal and navy. The Smedley Belvoir seems to be the best I've found so far but will cost out at around $200 by the time it's shipped. Something around $100-150 would be better. Any thoughts? Bugger all available locally so it needs to be something I can get online, which rules uniqlo out.

JOS has them on sale for $59.00. Maybe someone could buy them for you and mail/ship them. I'm getting a couple if I can afford it this weekend.

Thanks All,

I've just bought one of the Johnstons Merino ones in Navy, and will report back on fit etc when it arrives. Quite good value at around $135 AUD delivered to Australia. Previously I had only seen their Cashmere stuff. If it's good I'll add the charcoal one for winter.

Got my roll neck today and it's perfect. Nice high neck, long enough arms and body and the medium fits me as I hoped, slim without being tight. I'm a 40r by the way.

It's still not really cold enough here for roll necks but will be in a few weeks, I'll wear it mostly with grey and brown odd jackets and patterned/textured suits. I can see it getting a flogging over winter.

It's perfect roll neck weather here right now...

They had cotton roll neck shirts on sale at a couple of stores last weekend because they're getting ready for spring fashions here. I bought green and a red one. There's also a dark blue one I'll get this weekend (hope it's still there). The local Jos A Bank didn't have the wool roll neck sweaters so I'll have to wait until I find them somewhere else (maybe next weekend).

Is there any manufacturers doing decent quality sweaters in the 100-150 dollars range?
