Removing elbow patches from jackets

Can elbow patches be removed from hopsack jackets without leaving a mark?

More details on the jacket please. How old is it? Are you the original owner or does it have some other history? Pgotos would be nice.

... Probably. I'm sure you could cut off the lapels or the sleeves if you wanted to, as well.

I don't like patches and when I often find myself in shops not being able to find patchless jackets I like, but find jackets that would be perfect were it not for the patches, so I'm wondering about new jackets.
