Walking around Polk Street area in San Francisco I was sorry to note the Lumiere Theater was boarded up. Not sure of its fate but I cannot imagine it will reopen. It was part of the Landmark chain. In the mid-70s, early 80s it was a modest one screen movie house. As the decades rolled on it was chopped into mini theaters. Though the Lumiere was not a regal plaster palace it is another loss in the culture of movie theaters.
I never went out to movies often so I suppose I have played a part in their demise. Nonetheless I hate to see them going the way of the dinosaur. Last movie I saw was in 2010-2011. At the 'Sundance' movie complex in Japantown, San Francisco. It was 'Detective Dee and the Phantom Flame'.
Good, bad or ugly: when was the last time you went to see a movie at a movie house. Where was the movie house located? Can you remember what you went to see?
(Btw - this isn't meant to be a movie review thread.)
