Right, so I am thinking about what will replace the Goughs once they are gouged (awful pun I know). Ideally: Cut similar to the 5EP Straight Resin which I own. One wash or dry. Lower rise though than the 5EP (IIRC they are at almost 11 inches?), with button fly. Selvage Japanese denim would be nice but optional. Preferably low key pocket designs (or at least some I can remove). Does the SDA-103 sound like it is close? Or the Johnbull SC-003? Now, granted, I do NOT want tight fitting legging jeans, neither would I want anything tapered (I only take my dress trousers tapered, thank you very much

). So, suggestions? Thanks!

Yes, it does... ish. I think the SDA 103 has a slight taper, but nothing that anyone can notice. They are also what I would consider slim. Here's a little folder of some very ****** pictures of the fit. Dont complain about how messy the mirror is because it is out of my control. http://homepage.mac.com/janejenkins1...0103%20Fit.zip Note: They are worn about 2-3 inches bellow my hip so that they do not hang over my ankles due to my height. They are what I would describe as very low rise, although a lot of people would disagree. The back rise is cut in such a way that it tugs the front rise lower. Very deceptive. The color and fade are soooo good, though. Best denim I've ever seen.

That does indeed look rather close. Thanks! What I am wondering is, how would they compare to say, Oni Blue or the Skull S5507XX One-Wash... the measurements look similar (assuming the shrinkage on the SDA is as described).

Oni Blue would be a slightly looser cut compared to the SDA's, as well as a bit longer. I think the Blue is also a true straight leg. The denim isn't as nice as the SDA's (IMO, I know a lot of people would seriously disagree). Oni looks better and slubbier out of the box, but the D'Artisans reward time and effort much more. I know next to nothing about Skull.

Yeah, I'm very fond of my SDA-103s. It sounds like they're what you're looking for.

Yeah, they were phenomenal and should really be considered a staple of everyone's wardrobe. Just incredible. I've actually emailed SDA about possibly producing a 103 with a longer inseam just for me and a few of my tall brotheren

Something I forgot... I wear waist size 30 in 5EP straight resin... I understand that these SDA at BiG are unwashed hence they will shrink - the measurements on the site are pre-wash. Anyone have some input on sizing?

honestly i'd get the one wash from bears via a japanese proxy. That would be the easiest way to go, and they are true to size in one wash state.

Blue in Green's one wash service would probably be even better, assuming they allow returns on washed jeans. If they don't, doesn't make much of a difference.

They don't. Makes sense, I guess.
