**** me, so a week after this guy has been disrupting my sales strategy meeting, he tells me his wife had a miscarriage the first day of the meeting, which has been driving his being an asshole.
If I had known I would have sent him home, and I tried to get him to go home now, and he doesn't want to. Now I feel like a real ahole.

You can only make decisions based on the information you have. There's no way you could have known that.

Yes! He should have told you immediately. That he didn't is his own fault.

Exactly. Totally not your fault, and further more his insistence on staying around is even more annoying. In no way your fault.

if i can help you guys facing the hurricane let me know. unfortunately i've been through quite a few of these things.

batteries, bottled water, food you don't need power to eat or refrigerate, propane/grill - would all be stuff to stock off the top of my head. also get all your loose **** outside indoors, and make sure your neighbors do the same thing, so you don't have to deal with lawn chair missiles. fill your bathtub and other containers with tap water

take the satellite dish down if you can, but don't be outdoors (and especially not on a ladder) when the wind picks up

Yeah, don't beat yourself up for not realizing that the guy's an idiot, and kind of a douchebag. He should be home with his wife, not acting like an asshole at work.

I volunteered to look after a friend's cat while he was away. All my friend told me was, "Kitty is injured, please don't let him out." I had no idea how bad kitty was until I got there - he's emaciated and can barely walk. He hadn't eaten anything in 48 hours yesterday, and was visibly weaker than the day before. He drank some water, then threw it all up, winding up stretched out flat on the floor dry heaving.

He had the demeanor of a cat who was ready to die. My friend got back today, whisked kitty off to the vet, where he was told that Kitty most likely has cancer. I don't think Kitty is coming home from the vet. :(

When I answered the email Friday morning I didn't know I was signing up to be grief stricken for someone else's cat that I've never even liked very much - he was never much of a people cat.

as much as we can be. i wanted more flashlights (inb4fleshlightsfix), but there is not a single one still for sale. i hope we dont lose power, but if we do, i think we wil manage somehow.

I lose power occasionally so I have a box with candles, bottled water, a canned ham, flashlights, a hand crank radio, duct tape, condoms, crazy glue, scrabble, and a bunch of other stuff. Always be prepared.

For the next few weeks I have to cover a course for a colleague who's on medical leave. I thought I was going to get paid fairly poorly for that, but I just found out today it's even less than I thought. Oh well, at least I am building up good will which, along with $1.50, will buy me a steaming hot cup of coffee.

It is so uncharacteristic of you to stay up until a late hour, knowing you will regret it in the morning.

Where can you get a decent cup of coffee for $1.50?

I know, I know, that information will cost me more than $1.50.
