thanks guys for going to the effort to research all these brands. It'd be nice to think we start seeing more diversity in RP and WAYWT threads.
I know for one I pretty much only buy what I see on the internet. sad but true

Availability / distribution is a big factor. Even many established and "well-known" labels are hard to track down. However, I think / hope the timing is right and consumers are becoming more aware and interested in smaller / newer designers.

Speaking of new / upcoming designers, I think it is interesting / worthwhile to look at the shows put on by the MA courses of some of the top fashion academies (Central St. Martins / Royal Academy Antwerp / etc.). And if you see a full collection from someone in a couple years you'll have some background.

For example; below is a sampling of some of the menswear from the CSM MA FW12 show (you can find it in full and previous seasons HERE):

I think Dior management are just ******* morons. They've lost Galliano & Slimane and hired two (only recently, in Raf's case) pretty pathetic designers.

KVA is a good designer. No one likes a hater KJ. I do agree on Raf not being the best for Dior, but it´s women´s, so I won´t be wearing that stuff. I don´t want Raf anywhere near Dior Homme.

Okay, but it's not like Raf is taking over KVA's job. He's done a nice job growing out of his cult menswear following with the Jil women's stuff, and (imo) that's probably what they want him for. His recent women's stuff has been pretty universally loved.

Also I like the idea of the guy who sold youthful rebellion for $$$ doing couture.

Yeah that's a good point, I always think of Raf in terms of his men's stuff but you're right, he was pretty successful at women's, so I'm probably being too hard on him. It is going to be a big leap to go from the minimalist/futurist stuff of Jil, which wasn't far removed from what he was doing with his own line, to the glamour, excess, and sex of Dior, which is totally at the other end of the spectrum. But, that said, it was a pretty big leap to go from men's to women's, so I dunno.

Does anyone on this forum actually own kva's Dior stuff? I'd probably wear some of it, too, but I sure as hell wouldn't pay $4000 for it. I just think he was a weird ******* choice for that job and can't imagine who's actually buying it.
