Haha yep, I have another Dover in the mail right now but I am determined to jump on a Galway as my next purchase. Figured I would check out the used market first in case anyone was letting something go.

Honestly I wouldn't trade them for color 2 captoes. They are the crown jewel of my rotation. @Leaves really came through on that one.

Zug is awesome. It's better than all shell cordovan. But I would not say that in the Official Alden Forum.

Agreed on both counts. I went through a stage when I purchased a decent amount of cordovan shoes and boots and although I have a few nice pairs I actually find calf especially calf shoes and boots from shoemakers like Edward Green and Gaziano and Girling to be much more interesting.

A day late, but anyway.

I went to the factory sale hoping to get a pair of Galways and a pair of Chelsea boots and I walked away with Galways on the 64 last and a pair of Camdens in tobacco suede on the 82 last - surprisingly as I've bought the 82 last online before and found it on the tight side of snug. So 2 for 2 as far as I was concerned. It was busy but well organised and the people were friendly.

Congrats with the haulage! What colour Galway did you get?
How do people normally arrive at the Factory Shop Sale in Northampton? Hoping to get to future ones but always assumed that the car park will be manic!

I got the Galways in Rosewood. Really pleased with them.

I'd say it was a mixture of people arriving by train and car I think, the car park was almost full but not overflowing - we arrived by car.

Just spraying some suede protection on them today and they are coffee suede, not tobacco.

Justonemore - don't be too sad, there weren't many pairs of Galways, the ones I got were the only pair of size 8 ones left and I picked them up fairly early on.

Picadilly sizing question here;

How much difference would going down from a E width to a D width? Is there any shortening of the the length when you go down a width?

Have tried on the E width in the same size as I wear in Alden Van last and it felt a little roomy but not far off.

Thanks

I was told 1/16" difference dropping from E to D but that came from a salesman.

It's difficult to contextualize the width change because everyone's foot is different. If you live in the USA, I would recommend Axel's for D width EG's. Save yourself a lot of time and over-speculation by being through the first time. ...ask me how I know!

Changing the width does not alter the length.
