UPDATE: NEW PICTURES OF EXCHANGED SUIT ARE ON POST #18

Whats up styleforum, I just picked up this suit which has not been altered in any way and I would just like you know what everyone thinks about the fit, especially the length of the jacket. My second question is can the waist be taken in from a 38w to a 35w without issues? Third, would you recommend slimming down the pants after taking in the waist? And last, if i do slim down the pants, does the crotch or seat area need to be taken in as well?

Thank you in advance!

bump, i recuffed the pants to make them less of a distraction compared to my past pictures lol

Just take it back - it is dreadful. Hopefully you merely mean that you folded them up again.

The suits requires major overhaul.

1. Shoulder has too much excess material. A tailor must unmounted the sleeves to trim away excess material. it will affect the depth of armhole and circumference . At the end, the tailor has to replace a new pair of sleeves. Do you have extra material?
2. Deep armholes restrict your arms movement, and it does not really look good visually.
3. Waist from 38w to 35w, yes can be done, again, it is a major overhaul. the suits may lost it balance.
5. The costs for point 1. and 3. may easily get you a new blazer.

I would suggest go for an exchange.

My tailor trims the shoulder without replacing the sleeves. Looks good, and it's affordable.

Before crying out to exchange the suit, how did you get it? Was it on sale/clearance/B&S/eBay? If you paid full retail at a mens store, then I would say take it back and look for something that is a natural fit. Some things, like jacket length, are difficult to correct. However, if you bought the suit at a value price, it may be worth spending $100-$200 on alterations provided you have a good tailor to make the adjustments.

Also, I don't see a problem with the shirt. It may or may not be appropriate depending upon the occasion.

And, I just ignore BullionBro after reading this thread in which he replies to his own post.

Cheers mate, best of luck with your new suit.

If your hurting for money then I would suggest you take it back and purchase a more closely fitted outfit. On the other hand if you want to shell out a couple of hundred bucks then I would recommend going to a tailor and getting lots of alterations done. Here is a start, what is your body type? If you're slim, average or even athletic, I would suggest getting more of a form fit. The current state of the suit makes you look very sloppy and over weight. Where and who did you buy this from? I wouldn't have let you walk out of the store like that.

Starting from the bottom, the crotch seems a bit low. The entire leg needs to be tapered, and the pants need to be hemmed. The shoulders on the jacket should be reduced, the waist needs to be taken in. But judging from the length of the jacket I don't think it needs to be reduced because it's already on the short side (I prefer shorter jacket lengths because I'm a tiny guy). Also is one sleeve longer than the other?

Sorry for completely red penning your outfit. But we're all just looking out for you. But glad you checked with us first before debuting this to the world.
