They are laquered with natural color and have C&J logo on them.
Fit very bad on inside part of tree in middle section because tree to wide for area of shoe. .
Look close to last shape but it very hard to put in and get out of shoe.
Me wonder how this can happen,
it make no sense.
Me try and file it down and refinish the tree with wax and see if it fit better.
C&J trees feel cheap and weak.

Sounds like that is THE WRONG TREE for the 348 last. The trees that are not stained are shorter and bit wider and work with C&Js shorter last shapes (like the 341).

No wonder you are unhappy with them. I'll try to remember to take pictures of the two tree types side by side when I get home today and perhaps we can sort this out.

These are the trees that were recommended/sold to me when at the store on Jermyn St. And I'm quite happy with their fit.

Yeah the 1st pic trees are basically made on the 337 last and are the more expensive.

Awesome many replies! Thought about one thing though, you guys who buys C&J shoe trees, do you have half sizes? If so, what do you choose, half a size to big or to small (since C&J don't have half sizes...).

the trees should be smaller - they are even marked that way. ie: 6 - 6-1/2

I wondered about that. My shoe trees(laquered ones) have 7/7.5 stamped on them and my shoes are 7.5 but what about putting these trees in a size 7 shoe, is there any possibility of stretching the shoe.

Joke aside... I have a pair of Clifford in size 7E and use the "semi lasted" tree in size 7/7.5. All CJ trees are sized like this so it´s not a problem and even if the tree truly was a 7.5E the difference in width between 7 and 7.5 is just a few mm.
