drug testing

I've never had to take one but between careers at the moment and highly concerned its going to come up with an upcoming interview.

I've smoked on occassion, but only small amounts once every other week or so. Apart from 2 one-ies in the past month and a half, I have been clean.

Should I still be concerned? Are there things I can or should do?

If you've smoke a joint in the past month you're going to fail.

yes.... yes I have stopped. The concern is the effect of light use almost 2 months ago might have on a urine test, and if 2 (singular) inhales between that time will fall under the radar (the whoops factor).

I'm being flat out honest about my usage, not trying to slant it good or bad. It happened and I don't want to miss out on a great opportunity as a result.

I think you would pass a urine test, but not a hair test.

are hair tests really that common for pre-employment screenings?? specifically this is the aerospace industry in engineering/programming.

(if it makes a difference, my hair is a pompadour with butchered sides... I'd likely be taking off the top come interview. at a half inch growth a month, that would at worst case scenerio take me to half tainted up top)

You'll pass. It's been 2 months and you smoked on occasion. It takes on average 14 days for light smokers, and 30 days for heavy smokers.

But it all depends on your body too — if you have a lot of body fat, it'll stay in you up to 2 months. My advice to you is to buy a drug test-kit at your pharmacy for $13, and test yourself so you have peace of mind.

Mostly government jobs require a hair follicle test.

Careful with taking your hair too short. They may take other body hair instead if those on your head are too short.

Urine test 5 weeks if you smoke habitually.
occasionally like your self 2 weeks.

This is with normal body weight (if your a fattie you need more time) and normal 8 cups of water a day. If you are concerned drink more water and eat more berries like blue berries and raspberries.



Saliva test ( increasingly popular- NYC probation uses it now as well. Gives instant results with no labs)
3-4 days for weed tops. alcohol, cocaine ....much shorter.
Brush normally make sure you hit the cheeks, tongue and under the tongue as well as base of your mouth top and bottom.


Hair test (unless you need security clearances I would not worry about it. it just is not done for job interviews.)
Shave all your hair. everything.

Yeah, cutting your hair doesn't make a difference, they will take it from other parts of your body like your arm or leg. Just pray you don't have a hair follice test.

My parents work in aviation and all there drug test have been urine, but random drug test four times year at both there jobs.

wheh! I'm definitely getting some relieving feedback. ya dope is not a necessary part of my social or personal life (although quite enjoyable on occasion).

my longest hairs are definitely my head.... I am a firm believer in male grooming; so no worries there.

Don't worry bud (ha), you will be fine. Hair tests are expensive, and I have never known/met/heard of anyone who actually had one. Almost guaranteed they will have you do a urine test (fairly cheap, it's been around for a long time, and people are used to/trust it). If you have not smoked in a few weeks by the time you actually take it, you have nothing to worry about. Also, in the off chance it does come back positive, you can request a retest stating you were around people who smoked it (rode in a car, visited their house, whatever) and say it was only through contact. You will have to take it within 3 days, I believe (don't quote me on that), from the request, but it should buy you another week total from your first test.

**** drug tests, the US really is in the vanguard of suckage on this issue.

Random Q: does second hand smoke show up in any form for any of these? I always worry I'd end up at a party around people doing this stuff and freak out. I don't do drugs so I have no clue about drug testing.
