this thread, as much as I like it, does seem to provide a set of rules for wearing yohji properly, whatever the hell that means. yohji isn't about a uniform of styling. wear what you want to wear. don't be afraid to do something just because it's not on the runway or posted in this thread. I say roll up the sleeves.

Yohji rolls his coat sleeves nearly ALL the time. He could easily have them tailored since it's his own label.....

It's all about whatever you feel comfortable. I personally virtually never roll outerwear sleeves cos I don't feel comfortable with it. Doesn't mean it's WRONG though.

most of those "rules" you see here are intended to take away some assumptions coming from traditional labels, he offers a very particular approach. It took me a while to understand it indeed. Of course I have a precise idea of how I prefer to style it, i have it with other brands too.

you can wear everything sized down and tailor everything to some standard, but what would be the point then? I would buy elsewhere. It's like taking the ***** parts out of my bacon, because everyone says is healthier.

Haha, the ***** parts are where the flavour is :D Hence take away the oversizeness of his clothes ( I know we were talking about sleeves then but his sleeves are much longer than most European brands anyway ) to fit true to size is like taking away the space he intends to create which in turn is reflected in the fabrics he chooses. How much " space " you want is of course up to you, that's what I meant by " no rules ".

i think when one wears yohji, to a certain extent, one shoul forego the use of a mirror. we get to analytical in front of mirrors i believe which works against the freedom one should feel in his clothes. if you force yourself to not look at a mirror i think it'd change your focus from 'how do i look in what im wearing' to 'how do i feel in what im wearing'.

thats my take on the above :foo:

I wore my CS linen jacket and pants. One of my friends thought I looked homeless :D

For some reason that made me extremely happy
