Nope, no Engineered Garments stockists in Vancouver - I emailed them an asked a few months ago. From what they told me, there are only 2 stockists in all of Canada; Nomad in Toronto and Boutique U&I in Montreal. There are a few in Seattle though, I believe.

U&I still has a bunch of stuff at %50 off. Not much outerwear in small sizes though but great shirts and some cool jackets.

I'll probably drop by U&I tomorrow. Is there a lot of things in small? Problem is I'm a 'small' small, so I don't think I can pull off EG. I know that some size 1 APC sweater I bought from a seller here is way too big for me...

Fuuma, have you ever been to Nomad in Toronto? I imagine U&I is larger than Nomad - more like TNT Blu in terms of size of store and stock - is that correct? Nomad never seems to carry enough stock, and one of the sales people there told me they rarely order small sizes... Histrion : I have a similar problem. Shoulder/chest is usually ok in a "small", but I'm pretty short so tops/jackets are usually too long for me

You might be screwed

EG tends to run a bit big in order to accommodate multiple layers.

Nomad usually gets a pretty decent run of EG stuff, but they don't order many things in S. EG is available in XS, too.

Yeah, well, thanks. Maybe the APC sweater is just cut large though, I don't know.

And please, sell your damn jacket soon, its bothering me. I mean, I'd like to buy it but I don't want to spend that kind of money on that now, so its torturing me haha.

Just got off the phone with the guys at MAC and they said that they should be getting their S/S07 shipment around the first week of March. Don't know if this hold true to other retailers because Gary at Drinkwater's had told me he expected to get his in sooner than that.

Retailers have a window of time for their deliveries and based on geographic location, this could vary by region. Because we are in the Northeast, we tend to bring our product in based on weather and sales on seasonal goods. EG knows that I have an audience for their goods and tend to send them to me early. My delivery dates for most of our Spring/Summer merchandise is March 1st but EG will send me their garments as soon as they are ready. I will keep you posted as they arrive.
Additionally. I will have pics posted soon of our selections.
We want to thank everybody for the support you have given us in the past two years since we opened. Although we are not known as a Streetwear resource, we are continuely looking for new collections to enhance that part of our business which continues to grow. We intend to attend the Project Show in NYC this month so that we can find new lines that fit with our point of view in the Streetwear category.

What's with the work theme around their outerwear. The whole website looks like it's making clothes for workers with minimum wage. I guess I'm not their targeted audience.

EDIT: by minimum wage I mean the clothes look cheap. You gotta be kidding me if I ever purchase the jacket pictured on the first page.

To answers the multiple questions:

U&I has a larger retail space than Nomad but keep in mind that half the store is womenswear. Nevertheless, from what I've seen, their brand range is bigger than Nomad's and probably more interesting IMHO. Keep in mind that I'm not a post-skater/grownup hip-hop backpacker, which means most of the brands carried at Nomad leave me cold (i.e. Supreme, Visvim, etc.) even though I think it's a great to have this store around (especially considering all the W&H I have is from them).

EG sizing is tricky as you can wear it as intended (relaxed fit, boxy cut, layering-ready look) or size down for a more fitted look. I have both x-small and small EG garments and deliberately choose one over the other depending on what I wanted to do with a particular piece. Their shirts are supposed to be long and sloppy; if you're at least 5'8" like me you're tall enough for everything I've seen of theirs so far, although the longest coats might not be the best choice if we're of similar height.

I don't think U&I has much EG left in smaller sizes, especially if you're looking for outerwear (still have some Cloak and Junya coats though, also 50%).

I will try to answer your your question to best of my ability regarding their direction.
Diaki Suzuki, who is the designer and inspiration to the collections has an affinity towards clothing that has an" Americana" appeal. When I first met Diaki, it was 1985 and I was then working at Louis Boston. One of his first visits to a retailer in the US was Louis and I had the pleasure of being the person who greeted him as he entered the store. The rest has been a truely wonderful relationship.
He came to the US to source American products for the Japanese marketplace as he was then working for a Company called Nepenthes that had retail distribution there. In the 80's, there was a lustful desire for the "Americana" look in Japan and Asia. Pendleton, Woolrich, Alden, Ruff Hewn, Avirex, Cole Haan to name a few were the products he set out to buy for his company.
His passion for these timeless styles have led him to create his own interpretations of those classical models of "Americana" workwear, which to some translate into "Streetwear". Nepenthes is still his parent company and supports all his efforts.
In the past year he was named to design an exclusive collection of clothing for the Woolrich Company which he tells me will be distributed in the US in 2008.
I hope I have answered your inquiry and I'm sure now you will now appreciate his much sought after collections.
