Navy suit with very thin and widely spaced pinstripe. Ordinarily I would stick with solid navy/charcoal, but I need something for a 2nd interview. Even though this has a pinstripe, it still strikes me as sufficiently conservative. (Imagine it with a white shirt, blue tie, and black shoes).

Some additional considerations... This will be used for interviews at large law firms. I am 6'3, and well built. I mention my size because I know pinstripes on a larger person might stand out (am I right to assume this?).

Perfectly fine. That's a nice conservative pinstripe, and would look fine in any office setting. White shirt, nice tie, black shoes, and you're good to go.

agree, except for the black shoes.

Interview setting. It's unlikely that anybody would dock him points for it, but there are still some who go strictly by the book and demand black shoes for interviews.

Always wear black shoes for an interview. Cap toe balmorals are best. Never wear square-toed shoes.
This is one of several rules you never break.

I always assumed a navy suit should be paired with brown shoes while a charcoal suit is paired with black shoes.

With a navy suit ofcourse you can wear many different colours of shoes but not for an interview.

Man of Lint is absolutely correct.

Your choice of shoe colors for an interview are as follows: black, noir, schwarz, nero, negro, swart, preto, svart, etc. etc..........in other words black.

You can, in the US, get away with other colors in other business settings - but in interviews it's always black.

Thanks for the opinions so far. I have Peal & Co (made by C&J) black captoes that I will be wearing. I am not against brown (or even walnut) with navy, but for interviews I will be most comfortable in black.

Any more opinions on the suit?

The suit looks fine for an interview. With black shoes and white shirt it'll be most appropriate.

Looks good to go. As stated previously, interviews are a haven for conservative dress. Good luck!

Looks fine for an interview. If this is in anticipation of a "call-back" though, the firm isn't going to remember or care what you wore a week before in the screening interview. Just food for thought if you feel more comfortable in the other suit. Good luck.

True, wear the one you're most comfortable with, even if it's the same suit - just wear a different tie.
