Does anyone have any idea if the Skye boots are available anywhere? Is this something C&J NYC typically stocks? I have emailed them but not gotten a helpful response. Next step is to call but don't want to waste my time if these are generally not available...

Call them.

They always stock them, but they are very popular and sell so if they are out in your size then you may have to wait until the next re-stock...usually pretty quick.

If they are out of stock, just give them your contacts and have them charge your card and mail them to you when they come in.

I bet they will have them though.

I called them today. They aren't going to get the calf Skye in for 6 months...I could get the cordovan skye in 2 months. I was pretty shocked on the 6 month wait. May go for some Carminas in the mean time and see how I feel about them in July or August.

I live in NY, where we have a local C&J retailer in downtown Manhattan.

Length of my foot = 27.3cm (or thereabout), and the widest width is about 10.8cm. I own 6 pairs of C&J, all bought at this local C&J store, and all of which are UK 9.5E (or size 10.5 in US terms).

Your size may well be a UK 9E, but please don't take my word for it ! Hope this helps.

This sizing chart:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f6/Shoesize-adult-en.svg

says that 27.3 cm should translate to 8.5 UK. Do you find C&J to run small relative to other UK shoes of the same size, or do you prefer a more relaxed fit? Or is that chart screwed up?

Try calling C&J overseas...

Quick question I finally have found a last that fits (236 last). Does anyone here know any similar lasts from C and J? Particularly with respects to 'straight' lasts.

Thanks for your help in advance. :)

Many of the shoes C&J makes for Brooks Brothers under the Peal & Co. name are on the 240 last, which is 'straight' and very close to the 236. Models on the 240 include the wingtip balmoral, the perf captoe, and the Great Gatsby collection spectator.

All C&J Brooks Brothers shoes have the following characteristics:

- A single row of nails around the heel (a double row indicates a shoe made by Alfred Sargent).
- A square font for the PEAL & CO branding on the heel pad (an elongated font indicates Sargent).
- Handwritten numbering for the model number, the size (all Peal & Co. shoes are given US sizes) and the last number like this:

12345 11 1/2 D
240

Retail price for Peal & Co. is $648. The best day to buy is the day after Christmas, where you can stack the 25% After-Christmas discount with a 15% one-day kicker, and then open a Brooks credit card account for an additional 15%, bringing the price down to $351 plus tax. Some Peal C&J have some hand grade features, for example the perf captoe has a channeled sole.
