Single Parent Family Program is one of the programs offered by Presbyterian Children's Homes and Services. They are a charitable organization offering various programs to help children and families cope with various problems faced by them.
Â
Single Parent Family Program is a program designed to help single mothers facing homelessness due to poverty, abuse, divorce, incarceration, abandonment, violence or similar crisis. These families live in transitional residential homes located in Weatherford, Texas.
Â
This program serves about 3 to 4 families at a time. The program services are also available for families living in the community that need the same services without residential care. The woman must be at least 18 years of age and have at least one child to be able to participate in the program.
Â
The families in the program are allowed to stay for 6 to 12 months depending on the progress and their unique circumstances. The services of the program focus on the goal of self sufficiency for each family. Upon starting the program each mother is provided employment assistance. Day-care and after-school care is provided for the first eight weeks. Each family receives a safe, smoke, drug and alcohol free living environment. Individual counseling, case management and therapy are provided for mothers and children. They are provided with educational, vocational and employment resources and help choosing a future career. They are also given classes on parenting, wellness and nutrition. Family recreational activities are held.
Â
Victron Energy, headed by ali sharaf, feels that they can do their bit to the society by helping such organizations.
