Nope. RFX already told us that a HOFer with multiple championships isn't dominant.

On another topic, why oh WHY are the Spurs reportedly shopping Tony Parker to Minnesota for the 7th pick in the draft? I would never, EVER trade a player the caliber of Parker for anything less than a sure thing. The draft, even a lottery pick, is a crap shoot at best. And this year's draft is not what I'd call strong. Is this a move by the Spurs to dump Parker's salary?

I've stated numerous times that Duncan was a dominant big man. You really can't compare the two, when I showed the stats, it was to point out that stats isn't everything. Duncan with almost the same stats is considered dominant while Bosh isn't. Simple as that, Duncan played defense and just made everyone around him better. Bosh, not so much. You have to take everything else into account, including wins. I wouldn't even put rings into account but you have to make the team much better.

And no he asn't, Love was a beast but dude wasn't dominant outside of rebounding. Minnesota had the worst record this season and only improved by 2 wins from last year. Dude can play w/o a doubt but he never looked strong out there where you know he would win the game for you. He wasn't even the #1 option when Beasleys on the court. Again, stats aren't everything but fantasy league-wise, I'd take him in the first or second round easily.

parker is the only real tradable asset. who's going to take a chance on ginobili's glass ankles? parker has a 4 year/ 50 million dollar extension that starts next season. in 2012-2013 years they'll have the most cap room of any team in the nba if they make this trade... so if D. howard isn't traded by then..... the really telling thing that parker will most likely be traded? hoopshype doesn't even have his extension on the official team salary listings: http://hoopshype.com/salaries/san_antonio.htm

God, I hate the salary cap. I long for the days when teams traded players, instead of trading their salaries...

I think salary cap is a good thing, prevents teams from buying players. Imagine if the NBA were like the MLB, Knicks might actually make the playoffs and win a championship.

And I threw Duncan in there to show that your definition is so subjective that it really only makes 100% sense in the court of your own opinion. Which is fine but don't expect everyone to agree. The original point was Gasol, who won two rings as the first big man option on the Lakers. I'm still looking for a better rebuttal of his dominance than "because I said so".

Duncan is dominant because teams change their gameplan around him. When he is playing defense, the other team will hesitate before driving the ball in on him because of his shot blocking prowess. When he is on offense, teams not only have to run double teams at him, they have to run guys at him from across the court because of his passing ability. Centers like Shaq and Hakeem are the same way. If they weren't double teamed on every play, they would average much more than they did. Guys like Gasol, Bosh, and Love probably see double teams from time to time, but not 100% of every play.

I don't expect everyone to agree and I have showed support to all my arguments but in the end, you have to see the guy play and Bynum looks way more dominant that Pau when healthy.

Pau wasn't that dominant on defense, his softness is pretty much why the Lakers lost their first meeting against Boston. His defense in the paint are inconsistent and was backed up by Bynum or Odom. You can see his weakness when he is "depressed", dude couldn't keep up with Dirk.

He was a second offensive option in the team and he is a skilled big man but he didn't impose his will in the paint, he didn't score at will. He works hard and has many moves but he just didn't take over games as he should be. He didn't push, he got pushed. He can also be pretty weak mentally as you can see in the Dallas sweep. There is a reason why Perkins calls him a *****.

Longley won multiple rings as the first big man option in the Bulls team so it doesn't matter if Pau is the #1 big man option in the Lakers. The Lakers certainly couldn't win w/o Pau but he isn't the monster you are making him out to be. He's good and probably top 10 in his position but I just don't/haven't seen him being that dominant.

I think that is more than enough evidence compared to stats and rings.

shawn kemp...

I love how old school this is... players were still allowed to taunt... and yet kemp still showed respect by offering a bro-hand-shake.... and the dunked on defender offered his respect by reciprocating the bro-hand-shake.

I always find that funny, dude was so embarrassed that he didn't know what to do but give his posterizer some props. You guys should check out Kemps highlight reels on youtube, dude could get up there with the most of them. He just straight up embarrasses people.

Dominant, to me, means you can lead your team to Championship. I'm not sure he could do that no matter the supporting cast.

I'm more blown away by the old school arenas...no luxury suites...no wrap around LED screens...no 1,000's of advertisements...just some grand stands and people.
