The Declining Popularity of Tom Cruise - Page 2

Actually, I don't know that Tom Cruise's popularity has declined that much at all. There's a lull now between bigger Cruise movies. If you look at the last few years (MI3, War of the Worlds, Collateral, The Last Samurai), he's still a huge international draw. At least in my opinion, we'll have to wait until The Eye or whatever his next movie is comes out to see if it's a real decline in popularity or just a lull.

That said, he might just be getting a little long in the tooth for the kind of movie star he is, which would certainly indicate a decline. Could be a backlash against his public displays...but those seem to wane whenever a big move comes back. I don't think it has much to do with his fashion sense, though...otherwise, I'd expect the hot movie stars of the moment to have more style.

Now Matt Lauer has fashion sense, Tom put a black t shirt on; something I wear to Starbucks to get coffee after a rough night out

I don't get it.

What's that picture? Is it like the Hollywood 10?

i think TC is bizarrely fascinating. i am waiting (nay hoping) for a public crack-up, similar for example to the delicious lurid stories of jim bakker and jimmy swaggert, a couple of other religous nutjobs who got what was coming to 'em.

Tom Cruise made two films in the last year(War of the Worlds, MI-3), together they grossed over $350 million domestically and nearly $1billon worldwide. It appears that he's still got some juice

He is as mad as a bottle of chips.

Quite liked War of the Worlds though.

Eyes Wide Shut is a brilliant, misunderstood and underrated film. IMNSHO.

Eyes Wide Shut was not a convential film, and does have moments of brillance; although not an inspirational film for marriage or conservatives. It was filmed with great care, an erotic thriller/drama.

Tom Cruise does wear a lot of black, and he's developed a habit of wearing tight tee shirts to show off the physique that he has been building for a while. Those appearance cues can rub some people the wrong way.
