If J. Crew killed workwear with the infamous red chambray, does this mean that Abercrombie and Fitch just killed selvedge/ Japanese denim?

ANF gets a ton of hate around here (almost all of it deserved) but I have to admit that I am actually curious about these. They definitely won't be raw, but give them a month or two before they go on clearance and @ $50 these might not be a bad buy for a pair of beaters...

They've offered selvedge before, probably starting about a year ago, though I've never seen it in a store the few times I've wandered in.

Well apparently I am a year late to the news that ANF is offering selvedge so that should give you a good idea that I don't surf the ANF site with any regularity. And a friend of mine commented on the denim I was wearing last night and said "You know that you can get selvedge at Abercrombie now?" and I almost choked on my food. I had to see if it was real... Unfortunately my friend was right.

The funny thing is, if I stripped all the branding and tags off of it and gave them to you'd probably say "oh cool, some nice faded selvage jeans" (by your own admission, you said you like them, sort-of).

But since it's A&F it's suddenly the destroyer of worlds. Same silly logic that says moonboats are cool, but only when Rick Owens makes them.

I stopped cuffing my jeans to show off the selvedge line actually. It seems so tacky to me, like a prada logo or something. The jeans need to survive off fit and look alone
