Favorite clothes in your closet

Hey all,

This thread is pretty self-explanatory. Just choose one article of clothing for each category (shirts, pants, jeans, suits, etc) and maybe give a few words as to why it is your favorite. Feel free to include pictures if Steve B. thinks it's acceptable.

Dress Shirt: G. Armani Borgonuovo. Really dark navy blue, the fabric is so great, its very thin and the way it is woven creates raised 'stripes' of the same color as the shirt.

'Casual' Dress Shirt: Kenneth Cole NY (gift from girlfriend), white with thin black and purple triple-stripes. Fits well and looks nice untucked.

Casual Shirt: Longsleeve silvery-gray crewneck from H&M. It's thin and the reason its so unique is that it is a wool/nylon/acrylic blend, yet it doesn't look like it would be at all.

Sweater: Charcoal Merino Wool Versace Classic sweater, or a Joseph Abboud half-zip sweater made out of Wool/Viscose. Black and gray but has a very cool horizontal stripe effect.

Jeans: Paper Denim & Cloth bootcut. Great fit and look. Goes with many shirts. All the good things you heard about PDC are true.

Jeans (novelty): Slim-fit low rise Levis Premium in gray. Very unique, I'm wearing them right now.

Casual Pants: Kenneth Cole NY pants in heather gray. Thin material and very soft, very slight boot-cut.

Dress Pants: Flat-Front theory in Charcoal gray.

Belt: Simple supple brown leather belt (wide) with nice silver buckle. Stitch detail on end of belt and on the loop that extra belt goes through. Looks like a million bucks. $3.74 at Target. It's my favorite belt hands down.

Shoes: Kenneth Cole NY Black Monk Straps. I know KC's get a bad rep on this forum, but I've had these for a few years now and they have held up well. Wearing well, soles not separating (as I've heard KC's tend to do), and comfortable. Go well with jeans or dress pants. These are my 'beaters' and one of the reasons I like them so much is that I can wear them to class and trudge through snow, slush, and salt without worrying about them getting ruined.

T-Shirt: Very soft, slim-fit T from Express. It's red, has a cool orange circular graphic on it and says "1981"...kind of that faux-vintage look.

Coat: 3/4 Length wool/cashmere blend coat. Black, has a flap covering the buttons in front. Or, for more casual attire, a Diesel brown shearling coat, almost 3/4 length. Its unique because it is 'double breasted' and zips rather than buttons.

Jacket: Vintage tan LaCoste spring jacket that my dad gave me. Its authentic - from the 80's.

Watch: My Wenger. It's quartz but does the job. Swiss-made, SS case with rotating diver's bezel, simple gold bars for numbers, date window, and dark cream face. I pimped it out with an after-market croc strap.

Dress shirt: Gianni Versace white shirt with raised leaf, greek key and medusa prints. Subtle, but very nice. I found it at a thrift shop for $5.

Casual dress shirt: Kenneth Cole NY black linen shirt with tuxedo pleats.

Casual shirt: Black cotton stretch shirt with silver studs making the shape of a british crown, and the word 'British' written in red across the front. I bought it from Terra Nostra in Montreal.

Sweater: Black Parasuco mock neck sweater in knitted cotton with grey sleeves/ bottom and ribbing and cable knitting on both the sleeves and bottoms. Zippers from the neck to the armpit on either side, and Parasuco written in midevil letters across the chest in natural cordeuroy.

Jeans: Low rise antique indigo wash Ralph Lauren jeans with baked in creases at the whisker area and behind the knees.

Jeans (novelty): Stark white low rise PDC bootcut with minor fraying at the seams.

Casual Pants: Energie 'Brixton trouser' in black. Low rise, super slim fit, flare.

Dress pants: Flat front high waist Hugo Boss black 'Chuck' pant in cotton canvas.

Belt: Skinny textured black leather Guess belt with skinny G buckle.

Shoes: Diesel 'Lo' sneakers in black perforated leather with white suede detail.

T-shirt: Red David Bitton with white stitching and 'Buffalo Jeans' across the front in gold glitter and Titus type letters.

Coat: Energie gold distressed denim 'Ashland jacket' with fur lining and big fur collar.

Jacket: Cream david bitton nylon slim fit zip jacket with baby and navy blue stripes down the sleeves.

Watch: My aldo cuff watch. I know. I like it more than the Gucci, which I payed fifteen times as much for. Oh well.

Seems like I'm a logo whore. I'm not. Every logo piece I have, I bought because of the way the lettering looked, or what they did the lettering in.

I know what you mean. Thinking about my wardrobe, I hardly have any logo pieces. All my jeans either have no logo on them - not even the leather patch in back (PDC) or a very small tag or patch that is usually covered up (Diesel, Earl, Levis Premium, Seven). I don't really wear t-shirts too much but I can only think of one that has a logo - my Versace T. That doesn't even say Versace, it just has the medusa, and I'd bet that 95% of people on campus would have no idea what it stood for. I do have a Diesel sweater with a big "Diesel" across the chest in some sort of fabric embroidery, but the font is some crazy abstract scripture that looks more like a design than the name. Not a single dress shirt has exterior tags on it, and a few casual shirts (mostly DKNY) have a tiny logo tag down by the bottom seam.

Interesting topic. I'd say I probably appreicate fine clothing and accessories more than anyone here, after having spent a significant time in the middle east, and so much time on an Army green cot/ in desert camoflague. So, I take my clothing and appearance perhaps a little too seriously.

+ Suit: my favorite has to be my SB dark slate-blue Brioni, double vents and superb shoulders. My first really nice suit, and still looks as great today as the day I bought it.

+ Shoes: poulsken and skone Dunhill light brown wingtips.

+ Shirt-- a tough choice between the light blue or plain white Luigi Borrelli royal oxxford cloth, FC-- built to my measure, and collar specs (NO tie space where the collar meets, to form the perfect inverted V)

Certainly sounds like you appreciate the finer things in life. If I was in your shoes and had spent much time in the middle east I'd be the same way.

Suits: Either the Pucci, the Oxxford, the Oxxford...or one of the other 6 Oxxfords (I am biased)... the Brioni stuff is pretty but over time the Oxxfords have earned my trust. Shirts/Ties: Duh. www.carlofranco.com... I am down to 4 shirts and 30 ties from the days of 100 of each. Slacks: Luciano Barbera for everything. Wonderful fabrics and cover my big fat ass comfortably. Shoes: Fav's are a pair of black Mezlan split-toe laceups. Not the most expensive pair but very comfortable. Plain old Ferragamo brown loafers a close second.

Jeans: The pair of Levi's 501's I'm wearing right now. My first pair, and I have to say that these things really are awesome. Not too baggy, not too tight.

Dress pants: I only own one good pair of these, and it's a charcoal-brown flannel. I suppose it counts as my favorite.

Tie: I'd have to say my Zegna light blue/dark blue/dark brown zigzag tie is my favorite. It sounds ugly when you read it, but it really does look sharp. The light blue and dark brown are in the thin accenting stripes, and the dark blue is the major field color.

Cufflinks: A pair of double-sided silver ones, connected with a chain. I scored them off of Ebay for 18 bucks.

Shoes: Don't have a favorite pair of shoes, but I'll report back after Pediwear manages to get a hold of my Alfred Sargents I ordered three weeks ago, those dirty bums.

Dress shirt: It's a toss-up between my Jantzen one and one I got made here. The Jantzen one has superior detailing (like mop buttons, pattern matching and the like) while the one I got here is a really nice solid light-blue made with Albini fabric.

Casual shirt: Anything that's clean.

Favorite suit: Hard to say. Every suit I own (four) has its own pros and cons. The one with the most pros and the least cons has to be my latest, a navy-blue pinstripe with fabric that looks like some sort of twill weave. At least Super 130's, medium/light-weight. Pros: Fits nice, good fabric. Cons: Fabric is light so tends to bunch up in places even when I'm standing straight.

Blazer: Green cashmere Oxxford (gift from brother)
Shirt: Bernardo Firenze (italian) blue/white thin diagonal stripes, spread collar. Double button cuffs and collar. This shirt is awesome.
Dress Pants: Gray wool flannels (Luciano Barbera) from Louis of Boston.
Jeans: All I own is classic navy surplus jeans, they rule.
Shoes: Cordovan, cap-toe Johnston & Murphy
Tie: Robert Talbott orange thingy with little suns on it.

Dress Shirt: Robert Talbott custom shirt: candystripe pattern, white french cuffs with white contrast cutaway collar. I have gotten numerous compliments on this one...although it probably puts me in the "queer" league immediately. Dress Trousers: Charcoal grey Emporio Armani, flat front. Suit: Charcoal grey 4 button Emporio Armani. Tie: Thomas Pink solid pink woven tie...I wear this with my Talbott shirt. Cufflinks: Thomas Pink sterling silver checkerboard links, each enamel square is pink. Pocketsquare: Robert Talbott, silk white and blue windowpane, light blue tipping. Scarf: Burberry, silver signature plaid. Cashmere of course. Casual Shirt: Armani Collezioni light blue linen shirt. Sweater: Banana Repubic, charcoal grey v-neck cashmere. It is almost 4 years old and it looks great.

Dress Shirt: My white sea island 140's shirt from Jantzen would probably go here, but since I still have yet to wear it, I'm going with my lavender houndstooth Brioni shirt, with spread collar and french cuffs.

'Casual' Shirt: White Jantzen shirt with huge, bright orange and pale green stripes. Two button spread collar, three button barrel cuffs; this thing gets a ridiculous amount of compliments.

Sweater: Don't like sweaters, but my favorite is a "sherbert" (light orange) V-neck in silk/cashmere by TSE.

Jeans: Evisu light blue-green jeans with a "dirty" wash. I know Evisu has a somewhat fashion-victimy air, but I really like their less over-the-top stuff.

Slacks: Charcoal flat front wool trousers by Emporio Armani.

Belt: Simple black belt by Trafalgar.

Shoes: I'm not a shoe guy... one day when I can afford it I'd like to be. Right now I'm more into sneakers; my favorite is a green pair of Diesels, though I'm waiting on a pair of apple green Ludwig Reiter Sport trainers to come in the mail.

Tie: Purple Turnbull tie with blue, green, and yellow rep stripes.

Suit: Blue-gray 3 button Etro suit with side vents and a ticket pocket. Wish I got more chances to wear it.

Dress shirt: Cheap silver dress shirt with subtle stripes

"Casual" dress shirt: Grey ExpressMen shirt with oddly colored floral embroidery on the back.

Casual Shirt: A "work shirt" that I got for four bucks. It's a heather grey material that's actually kind of fashionable. Looks great with greenish denim.

T-shirt: Toss up between my Flogging Molly and Sublime shirts. Both get more compliments than any other article of clothing in my closet.

Coat: Black Cashmere overcoat, I can't remember the brand; or my black faux leather motorcycle jacket with inlaid Maltese crosses from Epidemic (just ripped this weekend, though).

Jacket: Although it's been MIA for a while now, my Spider brand lightweight jacket is great. It's a dingy off color of green nylon, with flared out silver/blue panels on the sides and detail piping.

Jeans: Bullhead dirty denim. Not too baggy, but definitely not too tight.

Shoes: This has to be either my Adidas Superstars (I have about 10 pairs, almost all black striped), or my TredAir Good/Evil shoes.

Belt: Black "leather" with 3 rows of pyramid studs

Buckles: Top 3 in no particular order--my Expressmen with the cat, my Felon brand with the spiderwebs and brassknuckles, or the nautical stars with built-in Zippo.

This list isn't very permanent, since I'm currently in the process of re-doing everything in my closet, so this will definitely change in the next couple of months.

Suit: This is a no-brainer. A Super 150's diamante blue double breasted 6X2 Kiton in a beautiful dark blue glen plaid pattern. The price was nice, too..(300 dollars on ebay), and then I got it tailored to perfection by Carmine at BG Kiton Custom. (for no charge...grazie.)

Shirt: A tie between two white shirts: Attolini with spread collar and a custom Kiton with the signature semi-spread collar the neapolitans seem to do so well.

Tie: This is tough. Three way tie between a Bvlgari 7-fold, Kiton 7-fold, and Attolini (it was a gift, so it's here for sentimental reasons)

Shoes: Another no-brainer. Crockett and Jones handgrade brown Ladbroke on a 324 last purchased for 100$ at a Barney's warehouse sale.

Pants: Incotex ice cotton khaki's.

Sportscoat: Tie between a wonderful double-vented Oxxford and a grey Caraceni (another E-bay steal at 100$).

Pocket square: A simple white silk square from T&A.

Misc: Have to mention the pair of silver collar stays (from Dunhill) that naturlaut gave me as a Xmas gift.
