What should be expected of a tailor as compensation when their error destroys an article of clothing? As an example, I just had the sleeves of two new shirts shortened and they must have cut one wrong as it is two inches shorter than the other. It's a well-respected tailor. Obviously they should credit me for the work, but should they be responsible for the cost of the garment as well?

Can OP confirm that he does not have an arm that is two inches shorter than the other, just so that we do not j'accuse a tailor too swiftly?

Thank you.

I know my tailor would replace the garment if he made that kind of mistake. It is only good business practice.

+1. A tailor ordered me a new suit jacket after he made a mistake when cutting the sleeve button holes.
