Custom Online Tailors

Hi all

Brand new to the board but have been lurking for a new months. I am interested in learning some more about online, custom tailors for suits, specifically lower-cost country sources such as Ravis or Indochino. I dug into SF and found some decent reviews but the results were mixed and seemed a few months/years old. Would like to know if folks have recently had luck from these sources. A completely tailored suit is out of my price range except from these sources.

Thanks in advance
Andrew

There's also Modern Tailor, Thick as Thieves, A Suit that Fits and a myriad of others. Have no idea on the quality of any of those, though.

I was looking into an Indochino suit for a while, and I finally decided against it because the shoulders looked uniformly poor (even on the models on their site). Check out http://syblon.com/Modern_Tailor_Firs..._the_suit.html for a Modern Tailor example. There's a SF thread about it here. Be careful with online MTM programs, as your first set of measurements are probably going to be off. Since you're on a tighter budget make sure there's some kind of fit guarantee from wherever you order.

I've been quite happy with my Indochino suits, and their customer service is excellent. I'm sure you can find better elsewhere, but Indochino is a decent price/quality balance, I find. However, their fabric range is extremely limited. If you want a sand-colored tropical wool for summer, for instance, you're out of luck. So, if you submit to the clothing addiction, you'll need to find a second supplier... - Mike

Thank you so much for your replies. Not ready to take plunge yet, have always settled for RTW and what the wife/Minister of Finance deemed appropriate to spend but this forum has opened my eyes to the possibilities. I am in Detroit area so doubt the likes of W.W. Chan would come close by and not sure if the likes of Mr. Ned exist near the Great Lakes. I don't need bespoke but I would like to choose specifics and enjoy little additions like working button holes!

I have now had suits made from Indochino, Astor and Black (3 suits) and KnotStandard.

I can honestly say I got the best fitting suit from Knot Standard but the cheapest was Indochino....felt the cheapest too....

Depends on what you want.

Astor and black was the worst of both worlds...plus I had to meet with someone 2 times...whereas on the other sites it was all done online.

The Knotstandard suit is my favorite, just got it 4 days ago...worn it every day.

+1.

When I accuse him of shilling for them in another thread he says he has no affiliation, then he bumps this year and a half old thread just to tell us how awesome Knot Standard are.
