How do you rate Lexol conditioner against (say) RW boot oil as a conditioner prior to applying LP?

I prefer boot oil but lexol should be just fine.

What's the difference? Is it just that lexol's an emulsion? I've been using Lexol for a while to condition stuff periodically, and I don't get the same issues with darkening you report with boot oil (LP is another story), so I'm curious why you'd prefer it.

Also, any chance of getting that brown/rust/cordovan comparison pic shot with a proper dslr in 5500k and daylight? I think this thread's finally won me over, and I'm trying to decide between rust and cordovan. The promo shot SF is using for that charity auction is confusing me.

Lexol is a lighter treatment. A page back I posted a color corrected image for color comparison.

The Cordovan 8 would be my first choice had I not already owned a pair of Beckman in Black Cherry.

Just got my first pair of 1000 mile boots. Beautiful. I had to size down 1 full size, as a 1/2 size was still way too big. However, they are a bit tight (not super tight) just a little. They stretch over time, right?

When I first got mine they seemed to fit great but after walking I noticed they felt tight and uncomfortable. I was worried they wouldn't work for me but after a day they were as comfortable as can be.

 

People need to be mindful that their feet can enlarge significantly throughout the day when sizing for boots. If you do any periods of extended walking, your feet are going to swell up and make your previously well fitting boots feel like a torture device until they shrink back down. Chromexel is more forgiving/stretchy than some leather boots I've owned, but generally when it's your foot vs. leather, the leather is going to win. 

I still can't get over how breathtakingly stupid it is to try and stretch your boots like jeans.

I'm not suggesting that I stretch them, but asking if they stretch after a few days/weeks of use.
