My ebay id is a made up word. First spelled with a 'z'. After a month I changed to an 's' to back up the underdog!

In general, I think women are too risk averse to be good coaches. However, life should not be ruled by generalities (if so, my white ass would not have gotten a scholarship), so no prob if a woman coached me.

i said no to all of it. are you nuts?

Women would do fine coaching except in the top levels of male professional athletics. (They would not have experience playing the games and the athletes might not relate.)

Actually, in Michigan, a woman coached a small school boys team to the State Championship Class D game about four years ago.

Hehe. Seriously though. If anyone thinks that chicks can't be tough and command make respect, take a look at Cristiana "Cyborg". I would say that she would kick the ass of anyone involved in this thread. I'm actually a pretty traditional guy, but what I'm saying is that there are definitely women out there who have more steel in them than a dozen tough guys.

Done. I don't watch sports anymore, nor am I interested in sports where women directly are involved.
My first post, maybe that prompt "to post" will disappear! lol

The results:

  • 125 people took the survey (a combination of styleforum and facebook friends)
  • Average age of 28.7 years
  • 84% of respondents were male, 16% were female

Question 1:
Would you feel comfortable having a woman general manage your favourite professional sports team?

78% - YES
22% - NO

Question 2
Would you feel comfortable having a woman coach your favourite professional sports team?

59% - YES
41% - NO

Question 3
Would you feel comfortable having a woman coach any sports team you play or have played on?

81% - YES
19% - NO

The results were not overly surprising. The role of head coach is seen as more masculine than that of a general manager so I expected so see that difference in percentages. The third question was a bit of a wild card in that I didn't really know how people would answer but I found the result interesting.

Thanks for everyone who took the survey!

Nice results Staz - aside from a mild surprise for Q1, I wasn't too shocked by the numbers either. ...I definitely wish I could say that my "research project" was this simple. PS - I assume you grabbed the Grey Ricards from Holt? How much did you end up getting them for? (I was sitting on a pair myself as the prices were dropping, but evidently I waited too long.) PM if you wish.
