I never understood the appeal of the bent sole on the originals. In fact, what appealed to me was really the shape/style of the boot, not the W+H distressing. I'm really glad to be getting Dayton's version now without all the superfluous details for much cheaper. I hope most of you will be able to enjoy the boots for what they are and not destroy them trying to soak/bend them into the W+H version.

don't soak your leather its a bad idea.
unless you know what your doing, you can really warp it.

leather does not dry uniformly after it's been soaked.

I didn't like it at first either but it kind of grew on me. Personally I wouldn't distress them in that way either.

I wish there were more pics of the grey nubuck version though. Still on the fence.

True. I am not going to soak it after reading about how this would compromise the construction of the boot, not to mention, the leather.

When are the pics coming ? Thanks though.

Part of the appeal came from the curled up sole for me. That somehow breaks the conventional work boots 'stiff' shape and flattens the front. When the craze for these first appeared, i was not bothered a little. Overtime, after reading through thread discussions and looking at the various pictures of these countless times, i just wanted one for myself. It was more like an aquired taste. Subtle detailing by w+h did give these boots a unique appeal, but i could not justify myself paying $700 CAD at that time to own one.
