I would like to know if people here prefer V-neck or crew neck sweaters. What are the benefits of one over the other? I am wondering, because I am thining of buying a few cashmere sweaters from Loro Piana.

Just two advantages to v-necks: they look better over a shirt & tie, and they're less constrictive around the neck. But you should buy whichever style you prefer.

I have seen some good looks with a crewneck over a collared shirt, but generally I prefer a shallow V.

V-necks. A way more versatile garment.

Crew necks look ridiculous by themselves or over a shirt.

I have both, but I find I prefer V necks. I think the V neck is more flattering than the crew neck. I also wear V necks with tshirts on ocassion and a crew neck with a tshirt is not a great look imo.

+1 on buying both styles. You can't go wrong if you just buy one of each. Especially considering it's Loro Piana

For cable knit I prefer crew neck and for a weave I prefer V neck. Don't ask me why

V-necks for shirt looks great (but please no tie) and crewneck with no shirt or it looks like a priest collar... just my 2 cents of course.

I actually like the look of a tie with a V-neck sweater or sweater vest. Especially if it's a wool or knit tie.

I would say both. V-neck is great, especially if you'll be in a tie. For weekend casual, I prefer the crew neck. I once saw a cardigan that buttoned all the way up to the top. Stay clear of that, whatever it was.

To me, V neck is the more versatile and better looking option (so long as the opening is not too large).

I am a fan of v-necks myself.

Better with the shirt and tie or even without the tie over a button-down or golf shirt.
